Disappointing quality

I have not been especially impressed with print quality since first buying this printer in July 2012, and things have only gotten worse. In spite of deep cleaning, new ink cartridges,and print head alignment, the color reproduction is poor. Paper transport is also an issue. If I load a sheet of photo paper into the main paper cartridge, more often than not, the printer will pick up the sheet of photo paper plus a regular sheet that's underneath. Making sure the paper selection is set to photo paper does not seem to help. Roller cleaning does not help.
Pros: fax/scan feeder tray
Cons: Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, Low Quality Output
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great printer, terrible software

I've been using computers long enough to know how to scan a document, but "My Image Garden" is the most complex, unusable piece of software I've ever encountered. If you just want a printer, this one is great; if you expect to USE the multi-functionality, look somewhere else.
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, horrible software
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So Disappointed

I've used and loved Canon printers for over 15 years, but this one is a big disappointment. Biggest problem is you have to physically wake it up to print. No useful if I'm in another room. Doesn't interface with Microsoft Word on my Mac so I had to find a get around which lets me save a preset, but doesn't let me name it so I have to remember codes to use (no good for visitors using my computer). Lastly, the entire scan system is odd. Every other Canon I've had permitted easy control as to what I wanted and where I wanted it saved as well as how. No so here. Just plain no user friendly and now I'm likely stuck for years to come, because I cannot justify going out and buying something else.
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fast complete photos and text

It is nice to get photos and text without missing pixels and streaks like I would get with the pluged up ink cartridges of my previous brand. This printer does a lot of self maintainance to keep the print clean. The only other thing to watch for is that you load the regular and the photo paper with the narrow side facing into the printer or you will jam it up ( My stupid mistake ! )
The nice thing is that there is good access to clear any possible jams that could occur. Once I learned to load all types of papers I have not had any jams !!!
Overall the printer has been great!

Bought the mX922 to replace 860 mainly to be able to print from apple products. Still don't know why an update couldn't be provided for that function.
Anyway, yes, the 922 will print wirelessly from an I product. However, even though the 866 and 922 are both plastic, , the 922 is noticeably flimsier. I mean it squeaks! the part that sticks out from the output tray frequently dislodges from its position.
I understand they are using the Gillette business model to sell link, but really, it could use more heft.

Good Printer

I needed a replacement printer and after much searching decided to purchase the MX922. The set up went well until the software installation. When the install was about to complete I got the following error:
new port could not be created.:0000
Because I do support work I was able to determine that my Norton antivirus/firewall software was blocking the port creation. Disabling it for the install solved that problem.
This is the only reason from a four instead of 5 star rating.
I haven't used it a lot, but am very satisfied with the print quality. I also like the fact that I can set off a print job from anywhere in the house.
So far so good...
