Ink doesn't last long, but the printer has

I bought this printer in January 2016. With the exception of one problem that required me to clean the heads (which was clearly explained in the canon knowledge base) I've had no problems. I primarily use it as a scanner and have never had a problem with that. Ink tends to go quickly, but there are good options that can save some money (although you might have to clean the heads ;-)). I probably would replace it with the same if it broke, however I'm not sure that will happen...

Not so good

I loved my last Canon printer but this one has had annoying problems from the beginning. I select black and white print and I get pink. Not always but sometimes! Photo quality is horrible! I miss not being able to print business card size pics also! I can’t elect to print a saved to document (in pics) on sheet paper. I’m now trying to figure out how to print from air print from I cloud, the info must be buried here somewhere.

Worst Printer I've every owned in 35 years

I've had this for several months now, configured to print from my MacBook Air through Wifii. Whenever the computer sleeps/idles - the connection is terminated and I must try various combinations of rebooting my Mac and powering off/on the printer. Really - multiple times/day? In 2018? Not only that - it takes FOREVER to print and to scan and uses up cartridges seemingly through evaporation rather than use. In the trash and back to the HP printers I've used for years.....

Only good thing I can say is that when it actually can print without jamming, the print quality is at least good enough for what I want, so it gets another star for that at least. However, it VERY frequently paper jams. I've tried troubleshooting using info from online manuals, roll cleaning maintainence, and anything online I found that might help resolve the issue and nothing helped. It jams on me so frequently that it is essentially unusable. Plus the infuriating several minutes needed for the printer to "set itself up" since each paper jam requires a power down to restart. Look for another printer.

Prints nice when it prints

I have bought two of these, one just a year ago and one a few days ago. The other one paper jammed but I never could find the paper to pull out so the printer is totally useless, carriage won't return I can't even get my inks out to use in my new one.

Great Printer

I've been using this printer for over three years. Does flawless documents and bordered or borderless photos. The duplex printing is so handy. Works smoothly with my HP pc and my Macbook Pro. Does envelopes better than the HP Business Jet I used before this printer. Got a much reduced price online which makes this printer the best for the money I have owned which includes 3 HP's and 2 Epsons.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought 2 - Buried 2

I bought 2 of these and both died with issues with printing and an obtuse error message. Investigation showed we could clean it, reset it, etc but in the end they just quit working after about 2 years, within a few weeks of each other. they were great while they lasted. The scanner and feeder is nice and that still works.

Really Sucks (Ink)

Worst printer I ever experienced... even for a free printer (it was a handed down).
Sucks ink down like cheap wine, starts up slow and constantly re-initializing or something, so frustrating. When it finally prints the quality is fine but jeez, while we're young already.
