Great Printer!

I have had this printer for about 2 weeks, which I admit isn't very long, but I have had several Canon printers over the years...this one is the best of all. It does everything! It has an oversized paper tray holding 250 sheets, which I like because if you are like me, the last thing I want to be doing is adding paper.
Photos are excellent, faxing works well, scanning is good, copying, and it looks good as well.
Prints on CD's or DVD's in a special slot created for just this.
What's not to like.
Cons:
It is a large printer, but then it does a lot, so I'm not complaining.
I like this printer...Kudos to Canon!
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, High Quality Output, easy to use, prints on cd's
Cons: Large Footprint
I would recommend this to a friend!

Decent, but not great

As far as a printer I think it's okay, nothing special. There are certainly color printer/scanners that do as good a job. What really burns me about the machine is how it's designed. It just doesn't feel like the guys who made it ever tried to use it. For instance, they recessed the USB slot, so the only kind of Flash drive you can use must be straight and narrow or else it isn't getting in. And if the Flash Drive is too large, the machine will recognize it, but it won't allow you to scan to it. Stuff like that drives me nuts.

Scan function

I was told that the MX922 would be a good replacement for my MX7600. Not so much. You can't rename a scanned file or change the file location after scanning as you could with the MP Navigator. I am extremely disappointed.
No rear feed for envelope printing.
Really expected more from Canon.
Cons: scan software, paper handling
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Failure To Communicate
on May 19, 2014

from Sacramento, CA
Previous reviews of wireless communication problems are valid with this printer. I previously purchased 2 Canon MX882's, which is very similar and had no wireless setup problems. However, 1 died of a power supply board failure after 4 years. I bought the MX992 to replace it. Bad mistake! This would only connect momentarily. I am a retired electronics failure analysis engineer, with over 20 years experience in the high speed color print industry, so I am no dummy as some suggested of others that reported wireless connectivity problems. I returned it within 3 days for a full refund, bought a different brand printer and had a flawless setup. Do not buy this printer! However, I was very happy with my older MX882's.
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Consistently jams in duplex
on May 20, 2014

Very unhappy with the duplex printing. Worked great for about 6 months and then began jamming in duplex mode. During the second pass, there is a screeching sound and the paper jams or comes out completely crinkly and wavy. I tried everything in the maintenance software but nothing works. Also, it takes forever to print the first page although the machine is making all sorts of sounds, doing who knows what.
Software is very confusing to use.
Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
