Great INKJET Printer product

Bought this unit to supplement other print and copy devices in the office. It has any AWESOME scanner and the output quality is GREAT.
As long as you use the device the way it was intended to be used, and not the way you THINK it should be able to work, the device works perfectly. Meaning, don't let paper sit in it for weeks/months and expect there to be no jams, ain't gonna happen. And MOST OF ALL,NEVER, under ANY circumstance, EVER use generic/equivalent ink cartridges in an inkjet printer. The difference in the ink's chargeability will cause the inkjet print heads to burn up or simply fail. OEM ink may cost more but you are not going to damage the print heads with it and have to buy a new printer.
Highly recommend any of the PIXMA or MAXIFY print devices. In the office I have both series of printers. We love them.

Mechanically poor.

I had the PIXMA MX922 for 4 months when it quit on me. A printer should last more than 4 months. I would not recommend this printer or any other Cannon printer to anyone. This is my 3rd Cannon printer. No more Cannons.

Don't beleive all the Negetive remrks

My original MX850 died after 6 years of great use and performance.
II after reading some of the negative reviews on the MX922 made very skeptical and i acctually went with a different brand which proved to be a bis mistake.
So i purchased the MX 922 and it is a great quality and ease of install.
Printing is very high quality Photo quality is great.
Just Make sure you read and follow exact install information.
For me took about 20 minutes to get everything up and running.

Canon can do better

I am a big Canon fan and my primary camera and lenses are Canon as well as my last printer are all Canon. Unfortunately Canon just plain got it wrong on this printer.
PROS: fast print speed,
good quality color prints,
good quality documents,
easy access to ink,
does legal size paper,
separate tray for smaller size photo prints,
fast scanning,
duplexes scans and prints
CONS:
printing envelopes requires 10 steps when paper is in tray,
scanning setup and scan is too complex for ordinary scanning,
noisy,
output tray is short and looks like it would hold many copies,
photo paper tray does not take over 5X7 paper,
start up is about a minute (probably wasting ink),
after printing it also takes a loud while to clean the print heads,
trays are awkward to reach and require closing the output tray,
very large footprint,
setup is more difficult than most printers.
The problems with this printer outweigh the good, especially the difficulty in scanning and printing envelopes. Why Canon allowed a printer with major flaws like these is beyond my understanding as Canon products are usually better.

The new software is AWFUL

Traded my old PIXMA in for this "upgrade"; so far the equipment is good- have had it in use for about a year; however the upgraded software package is AWFUL.
The old IJ network tools were simple, and worked great. The "new" and "improved" software has very pretty "interface" and is the most dis-functional pile of junk for software I can imagine.

Difficult Setup

Set printer up I had bought for a friend for Christmas. Did all setup steps; kept getting the message that printer was off line??? Could print from word and could print coupons, but when I would click on the print symbol on a site, got the message!!! Very unhappy. Will have to call Tech support when I get back over to straighten this out. Shouldn' t have to!!

Poor replacement

I have been using Canon printers for 15 years or more. But, the MX922 is a poor replacement for the MX 890 series. Canon did away with an important feature, the rear paper feed. For a small business, this is an important feature to be able to quickly insert a check and print it. Having to pull out a drawer and insert the check is wasted effort and time consuming. I have also found the utility program is not as good as the old MP Navigator. I am very disappointed in this model and have tried to find 890's for sale with no luck. This model may be fine for home use, but not for a small business.

Fits My Needs

This is my second 922. Worked the first to to death. I bought the second because the first worked great. When I read the reviews I don't understand why there is such a difference. No it's not the easiest to start, but I look for other qualities which far bury any negatives. I keep buying as long as Canon keeps making. I find, not just with this product but with others that the negatives come primarily from those who don't thoroughly read the quick start guide or users manuals and then complain
I would recommend this to a friend!
