unreliable setup and connections

I thought this product would be easy setup and reliable. Loaded print software one day, and the next, nothing worked. cables were the same, network was the same, but no printer could be found! Everything is set the same as when it was loaded, but I have lost any network connectivity. this is awful. It is being returned. the power cable connection is loose and powers itself off if the cable is even touched.
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, unreliable, cord connections are loose
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

great style, poor function

It is stylish and sleek. The print quality is exceptional. It is the only printer I have ever owned that I have to constantly reset. I think it goes to sleep and does not wake up, necessitating a restart. I bought it for the wfi and airprint functions. It is annoying and ruins the utility of the printer.
Pros: Small Footprint, High Quality Output
Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ugh.

I've never had a printer that sucked ink like this one does. It seriously needs it's own IV line. The ink tanks are a little tricky to change, too, which surprised me since they expect to be changed every other week. I don't print much at all either. The occassional recipe or e-mail. I'm sorely disappointed as I've had such good luck with Canon products that I tend to use them solely. Big disappointment. I think I would like the printer, but buying new tanks all the time has really put a damper on my opinion of this printer....
Pros: High Quality Output, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Working great for me

Bought this Canon AIO after the 2 previous models made by a leading manufacturer both appeared to become gummed up with ink & became unreliable. It's too early to tell whether the same problem will affect this Canon. But so far I have to say I'm very pleased. Good quality output & features & it's been perfectly reliable so far.
Pros: reliability
Cons: Large Footprint

Small Paper Tray Warning
on February 28, 2014

Overall, I find the printer to work well and the print quality is good. My biggest frustration is that it often does not print to the small print tray even when you have small paper loaded and select the smaller paper size (say 5X7). Result, a lot of wasted paper and ink. Beware!
Pros: reasonable price, good print quality, easy to use
Cons: small print tray failures
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a very bad printer. It does not work half the time. I should have listened to the reviews before I bought it. It is slow, and 3/4 or the time it does a horrible print job. Come on Canon make good printers and stand behind them!
Pros: durable
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, Low Quality Output, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great printer, but...

Awesome printer, but one should NOT have to replace ALL inks if one just WANTS to print black and white and thus give error codes. Printer should just say MUST REPLACE ALL INKS BEFORE PRINTER WILL FUNCTION because we want you to buy inks even when you don't need them right this minute, Print functions are excellent, no problem otherwise, love the double sided feature, as it saves paper!
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: all ink cartridges must be full to print
I would recommend this to a friend!

Never again

This is my second MX series in the last three years. The first one was replaced once by canon and the second died about a year later. So if you count the replaced unit, this is my third one. Why I was so stupid to buy yet another one, I don't know.
My current machine just started fading and skipping lines of print. I'll call canon customer service today to try to correct the problem, but I will never buy a canon product again. Oh, and by the way, just about every negative review you have seen here is totally correct.
