Printer/scanner are very well done. Quality and ease of use -- simple. HIGHLY recommend that you set-up printer for Steps 1-4 on your own (which is basically unwrapping the printer, loading print cartridges, and printer head alignment). Then call Canon support and they will literally walk-you thru (Step 5) wireless connection & (Step 6) driver/software downloads. The last two items, thanks to my Canon Tech took 47 mins (that includes my numerous Q&A).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Printer, but network problems
on July 19, 2014

So far I haven't been able to use the printer too much because it would not stay connected to the network. It would connect to wireless or even hard wired, but would not obtain an IP address. Found a forum entry saying to turn off IPv6 and DRX. As soon as those were off, it obtained an IP and is working. Sounds like it might need a firmware update to disable these by default. I've seen several people who gave up and returned their printers because of this problem and I was about 30 minutes from doing the same.
Pros: Easy Setup, Small Footprint, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup, network problems

Great All Around Printer

Bought this a year ago to replace a Canon photo printer (photo i950) that died. While sometimes not the speediest to start printing some documents, it produces wonderful color photos (very quickly!); the fax is very effective; everyday document printing is quick. Set-up was a breeze. While nothing is perfect, this model does not disappoint.

Ive only had this printer for 1 day now, i purchased it for photo printing. Why it doesn't have a good review here, i don't know. Set up was an absolute breeze, Found my wifi instantly, my mac found the printer instantly. I have some tweaks to do yet, but print quality of photos overall are great. I haven't used the CD/DVD printer part yet, really don't plan on it, that is a little hard to find as I had to ask canon where the tray for it was..it is under hidden on the bottom of the top tray by the way...I've printed a few black and whites so far, cartridges seem to be using the same amount as any other printer I had. (Mite be a good idea though) to look at CIS systems (Continuous Ink Systems). The paper profiles are a bit confusing, but i found out which to use for my canon photo paper. My prints come out a little darker than what I have on screen, but I'm still working on that.
i just wish there was a way I could adjust the printers brightness of prints using a setting that allows for brightness adjustments.

I bought this printer before reading all the reviews. I have to say it not getting a fair review. I installed the printer on my wireless network at home so that all my computers could access the printer. The setup while not easy wasn't too bad, it certainly was manageable without any extensive knowledge of computers.
As for access I have had one on two issues which isn't awful since I have so many devices using it on a regular basis.
Quality is excellent I use this printer for documents and photos and the output is well above the minimum acceptable quality.
I replace another brand printer with this and I would do it again.

Stopped printing

Worked for a few months, then just stopped printing. Reloaded the driver from the web page, but that didn't help. Tried using wireless and also plugging directly into computer with USB cord. USB cord worked for a little while, then even that mysteriously stopped working. Nothing I can do to get it working.

most fussy printer I have ever owned

This is the weirdest machine I have ever owned. It makes up its own mind if it is going to print something or not and it also selects the quality. It also takes forever for the thing to print. It goes thru a long process of doing things before the actual printing, usually about 45 to 60 seconds. Sometimes you can sent stuff to the printer and nothing ever happens so you sent the job again.

Easy setup, AirPrint works great!

Just bought this and setup was a snap. My MacBook Pro doesn't have a cd ROM drive, but the Canon website has a support page that explains exactly how to download the drivers. After following the included instructions from the and downloading the drivers, the printer has worked perfectly. I would recommend this printer to anyone.
