A great example of a Good Deal too good to be true!

I have owned this thing for 2 to 3 years. Unfortunately it keeps running and working. Maybe if it would die, I would feel justified in dropping it out of my 2nd floor window. Noisy, slow, consumes massive amounts of ink, doesn't connect well to network, always turning it off and on to get print to go through. Just a really reliable non user friendly piece of junk that I'd like to get rid of like a bad brother-in-law.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Reliable printer but ink is expensive

I bought this model 7 years ago to replace an MG8220 that had water damage from monsoons in Southeast Asia where it was produced. The MX922 has been a dependable work horse for my husband and I. He prints via a WiFi connection to his PC laptop; I connect via WiFi from my iPhone, iPad, MacBook or iMac. He uses the machine mostly for printing; I use it more for scanning. I occasionally print color photos, mailing labels, even the occasional envelope. This printer has never let us down and has never needed repair. The ink cartridges are a bit pricey (though not as bad as those for comparable Epson models). But if you want high-quality color reproduction, fake Canon cartridges won't give it to you.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ease Of Use / Appearance

Both my Mx850 and IP4500 broke and I purchased this one to rep[lace them.
The software is incomplete for the printers capabilities and very complex to use.
The software with my MX850 and IP4500 was clean cut and very user friendly. The Mx850 scanned, faxed and printed with ease. This printer like my IP4500 supposedly prints on printable CDs.
There is no print CD label print software included just the capability to do so.
My Ip4500 had wonderful Print CD software that came with it.
This was to replace an IP4500 and an Mx850 for the combined functions. By no means does it come close.
It is very glossy black instead of home office flat or semi gloss tan or grey.
Every dust particle and finger print shows like you never clean it.
Pros: tech support, toll free numbers, touchpad has real butons to press
Cons: the software is not user friendly, software provided is insufficient for the funcions, the print head appears non replacable, too glossy you need sun glasses to look at it, covered cartridge storage and non cleanable, touchpad must light to see it

worst printer ever

Wish I had paid closer attention to other reviewers. This printer is the slowest, most difficult printer I have ever dealt with. Even the 'fast' setting takes minutes to print a single black one-sided document. The color prints look good, but it is not enough to make me like this dog. I cannot wait to get rid of it and find something that actually does what it is supposed to... print quickly and scan easily.
Pros: photo prints look great
Cons: slow, many steps to work, scanning is fickle, sucks ink very quickly
