Printing CD/DVD labels
on March 27, 2014

Unable to INSTANTLY find ALL hardware setups for printing CD/DVD labels. Still do not have a clue on how to insert the tray into the printer.
It would be nice to have CLEAR how-to instructions without all the sales hype and dum-dum background NOISE posing as music.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not as good as the MP500

I found that this printer does not have the same software preferences on the MAC as on the PC. If I want to print coupons on the PC, I can select printing preferences and choose grayscale, fast print and then print in black and white and save my color ink. Can't do this on the MAC, because when you print coupons it does not let you select preferences before printing. And, I used to be able to preview the coupons before print (on PC) , this is not available for the MAC. I don't why Canon didn't give the same choices for both types of computers. Disappointed!
Pros: reliable, High Quality Output
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, lousy software
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Big Disappointment!

I've owned many Canon Printers over the years and this one is, by far, the WORST I've ever owned.
It's HUGE and takes up way too much room but, thankfully, I have a large desk so it's not a big deal.
Ridiculously slow to start up - you must leave it "on" all the time - and sometimes slow to begin printing even when you do.
The worst part is the paper handling. I hate the paper transport system (side facing down gets printed on). It constantly misfeeds and sends multiple sheets through at the same time so it's virtually impossible to do double-sided printing with any confidence. I've wasted more paper since I've bought this printer I feel I should plant a few trees to make up for it.
I constantly have to adjust settings to get items to print correctly (formatting).
The only saving grace is the print quality and speed of printing: very good and quite fast. The ink also seems to last a reasonably long period of time. But what good is all that when I'm so frustrated with the bad points?
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed, ink tanks
Cons: Difficult to use, Large Footprint, unreliable, paper transport, slow start-up
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

UG, where to begin...the product itself is cheap plastic; set up difficult; and forget about reliable wireless printing, which is the primary reason I purchased. I have been trying for the last 45 minutes to print a document. The prompts on the printer and directions are not user friendly. I wish I would have done more research before buying. Yes, I do have buyers remorse.
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome Printer!

Great home printer! Installation was very easy and connected to all of my devices quickly. Expected starter ink to run out early but to my surprise the levels are at 50% after printing 25 color 4 x 6 photos. The printed photos were awesome using Canon ink and paper. Couldn't believe how easy scanning was and automatic document feeder worked flawlessly. I have already recommended this printer to my children and co-workers.

I did some research before purchasing this printer and the comparisons that were used rated this printer "Best Buy for Your Buck". After receiving it, I believe the reviews. Another reason for purchasing it was the I have a Canon SX50 Camera and it is awesome! I take unbelievable pictures with ease. That said, I have had other Canon products and respect the reliability, quality and functions. This printer, so far, has lived up to the Canon name of quality and hopefully reliability. I like the fact that you can purchase only the color that runs out instead of purchasing a bundle of colors. It was easy to set up and run. I have used the scanner, printed color photos, and printed from two different computers (a laptop and a desktop). The printer does seem to run a lot after printing, but does not impede printing. Overall, I think this printer has met all of my requirements and recommend it highly.

DO NOT BUY

Printer and scanner lock out -- what? That's it, with color ink warning on I can not print back or use scanner.
This printer seems to eat ink. I put new color cartridges in printer and with it's continually cycles it eats up the ink. Very little color printing but all color gone.
IMO, this is the worst printer/scanner I have ever owned. I am going to look for new software update and if this does not fix -- its up for sale or the dumpster.

Very Poor, blurry Scan Quality

The scan process is much easier than the 892, BUT, the image really lack clarity.
I tried to scan a printed and very readable floor plan as a PDF document. The image is so faint that it is difficult to read the print. Big Disappointment.
