This is a very fun game but it doesn't offer anything new. If you have previous GTA games, than you pretty much know what you're gonna get from this game.... but still very fun.
Lots and lots of "swearing".... very violent.
What's great about it: Large open game, explore on own or play missions.
What's not so great: Character movement and controls

So far, I've only played a couple of missions, but this game has great potential! I've played tons of games, and solved some, but this has so many side games and missions, it's staggering! The only bad thing I'd have to say is I have an 8 year old, and the casual cussing in the game is so often, I don't think I can even let my daughter HEAR the game! Not that I'd ever let her play it, but it's tough on dad's. Just a heads up!!
What's great about it: Open ended, great graphics
What's not so great: tough learning curve, not everything's spelled out (not even in the manual), absolutely tough to play around a child

I am not a fan of this series. That said, I can't stop playing. It is like being in a movie and you are the main charactor. I have never played a video game that had me so totally involved. I can't get enough. It is like I am really there. I have the xbox 360 version and I can hardly stop playing the game. The controls are simple. The graphics are a little too real. I especially like the way the game teaches you as you go along. This is all before I even tried the online version. Ok back to online. I paused this review to try the online and my first impression is also amazing there is no lag and the interaction with real player make the game even more real. I would recommend this game to anyone over 17 as it's content is truly adult. This is a must buy for any gamer other than kids. I only wish it was also out on PC as I prefer PC controls. Bottomline buy it if you can find it.

This game is great. One pro I want to tell you about is that if a vehicles door is locked, you bust the window out. There are only a few minor cons about this game. Okay lets start. If you plan on buying this game to immediatly drive in NYC, which I did, you may be disappointed. You have to complete a little over 23% of the game before you can drive in NYC. However, you CAN drive over there if you want, you just have to evade the 6 star wanted level, which you cant. The last con about this game is the toggle control. When you steer around corners in a vehicle, the corner is blind only for a moment, due to the toggle controls. Overall, this game deserves 5 stars. If you haven't bought it yet, GO NOW AND BUY IT!!! You will enjoy it. WAIT, one last minor con, the cops on the game will point their weapon at you when your close to them and try to place you under arrest until you bust out of in front of them, if you don't bust out from in front of them, your going to jail.
What's great about it: Graphics, Size of world when you play the game, if a vehicles door is locked you bust the window out.
What's not so great: Controls, You have to complete 23% of the game to unlock NYC. Vehicles are slighty hard to drive when your new to game

I was really excited when I first bought this game, but now, I pretty much just feel like I am driving around and really not doing anything. The missions are great, however, if you are chasing someone down, the car doesn't handle that great at all. I've spent a little over 20 hours and have only completed 11% of the game... So it definently is long and has great game play. Plus- there are lots of cheats out on the internet already to help with different cars, more guns, and the ability to change your wanted level. If you have a lot of time to sit down just to play GTA4 then by all means go ahead and do it, but after awhile, it gets really boring. I've also tried to get online to play, but have had a really hard time actually getting into a match.. There are still a few glitches that I can see that needs to be worked on.

This is a great game, but it is not suitable for young kids, because of the intense violence and language. I recommend this to anyone who liked the previous GTA games, i personally rank this the best out of all of them. You are a man from Russia (i think), who comes to Liberty City to meet his cousin, Roman. Here in liberty city there are many missions that you can do for a variety of different people. There are many guns and cars in the game, and you can fly a helicopter around, but not a plane. The online is fun if you want to kill some people with some friends, and do drive bys. In general, GREAT GAME, FUN ONLINE. 5/5
What's great about it: Graphics, gameplay, huge city, online play, much more, good achievments
What's not so great: online setup, no flying airplanes

I rarely get a game and constantly play it for hours. I try to time myself on my play time so I'm not stuck in the house al day. But this game gets me so involved with it I just don't want to put it down. I enjoy playing this character because even though he is STILL a cold blooded killer, he is the most liked out of all the GTA main characters that I have played. The vast open scenery is key cause I don't like playing a game when the backgroud fades away or just pops up like a block before it configures into a building or a mountian. Using the controller is also quite easy to used compared to the previous games. The driving though is too loose and you tend to swerve around alot (Especially when you are riding a motorcycle). All around this game is huge and deffinitaly entertaining.
What's great about it: The size and simplicity of the gameplay
What's not so great: Driving could be easier to use

Great videogame. Compared to the other GTA's in the popular series of games; GTA 4 is the best so far, out of all of them.I've played each one, and this one has better cars, better weapons, and now you can use a cellphone to call other characters that you encounter throughout the game (i.e.girlfriends, mobsters, enemies, friends, ect.) Good storyline, fun adventures, and the further you go in the game; the more cool stuff you unlock (like better missions, better weapons, new girlfriends, new areas of the city and map open up.) There's too much great stuff to list, not to mention that with the XBOX 360 version, you can also play LIVE with your friends or other online players. The only con (which isn't much of a con) is that the in between movies that play after you complete a mission or go further in the story; tend to run a little long. But overall, it's a great game for mature teens 14+ or adults, due to the mature nature of the game, and M rating.
What's great about it: Great graphics, fun stryline, cool new features
What's not so great: None, except the movies about the game (for missions) are long
