Let's get one thing straight from the beginning: Bioshock is not a particularly difficult game. No enemy will re-spawn when you die and your money and items remain intact even when you don't. Although it may take you a couple of weeks to get through, you will get through it without frustration.
That said, Bioshock is a wonderful ride for those couple of weeks you become immersed in the world of Rapture. The graphics, audio, and original soundtrack are breathtaking. The story leaves nothing to be desired and you will find yourself emotionally attached to the various characters you encounter.
Because the game is so unique you will find yourself wanting to go back and put together the story all over again to catch the missing pieces from the first time around. In addition, and without giving anything away, there are different endings to the game depending on decisions you make as you play.
What's great about it: Graphics, Soundtrack, Story, Originality
What's not so great: Fairly easy to complete

I purchased this game a week before it came out, do to a certain store selling it early, I must say this is the best shooter since Halo 2. The wide range of weapons and abilities you have as the main character is astrounding. With the special abilities there are multiple unique ways to kill enemies and the story is amazing. I can not stop playing this game, I recommend it to everyone!

Easily should win Game of the Year. Graphics are top notch using the Unreal3 engine (gears of war). Sound seriously helps set the mood and atmosphere, get a surround system if you dont have one.Great story and gameplay. Sure you can run through it but the point is to explore and upgrade.
Play the demo if you want to try it, but it's def a must buy.

I ordered this game after hearing multiple comments on it praising it over the past year counting it came I two years ago I believe. When I first started it, the storyline of it already got me in and welcome to the underwater utopia of Rapture. With a basic tutorial near beginning, I was ready to play through. The game includes various weapons from revolvers to grenade launches. You also have plasmids, which are genetic modifications that allow to to create fire, electricity, ect. out of your hands and to inflect enemies. As you play through the storyline, you meet characters that you grow to hate or to trust which attaches you. The gameplay controls are basic and normal for usual First-Player Shooters which is a good thing unlike other games where it confuses players. The graphics are overall stunning and filled with detail and effort. While not explorable in this game, you can look outside the walls of Rapture into the ocean that surrounds it for beautiful scenery. The enemies range from genetic mutated humans called Splicers, to enormous creatures called Big Daddies which are sworn to protect Little Sisters, orphaned little girls that have been altered by the stem cell ADAM which is a huge concept of the main story. To truthfully say, the only thing people might dislike about this game is that there is no multiplayer, but seriously, it's supposed to be a single player game and I don't think a multiplayer mode would work very well with this game although it was added in the sequel, Bioshock 2. Basically, it's a game that should be atleast bough for 20$, which is a great deal for a amazing game like this by 2K. A must buy for all serious gamers.
What's great about it: Gameplay is fun and easily responsive, amazing storyline, all for 20$. A must have.
What's not so great: May be a bit challenging for newer players if they play on the wrong difficulty if they have bigger egos than the room.

this game is great-the graphics are up to par with gears of war. The storyline is great- this is the first time that i had to actually manage my time because the story leads you wondering more. Has a great twist at the end and there are different difficulties from easy to hard to make it even worthwhile.
Gears of war is a third person shooter so i am not comparing it to gears.
I can not compare to halo series because online play is not supported in bioshock (but if it was..ohh man) :)
Ill rate it as i see it.
Story: 9/10
Graphics: 10/10
Game play: 8/10
Difficulty: 8/10
Replay Value: 7/10
You might as well rent this game when it comes out because it will only take you about 20 hours to complete.

Bioshock is by far the best game i have ever played. the first thing you notice is the graphics there amazing every thing is detailed you will be looking and random objects because they look so good. The controls for the game take a little getting used to but thats not a big deal . Bioshocks story is a little hard to follow so I suggest finding all the audio tapes not only will you know whats going on and how rapture went into this down ward sprial but it also nets you an achivment. The game is short and very easy so putting the difficulty on hard is a good idea, Ibelive there are three diffrent endings depending on how many little sisters you save will make you play it over. Flying right through the game is a mistake you will miss all the great details they put into it. I have looked in several magazines and all gave bioshock a perfect 10 out of 10 or 5 out of 5 this game is a must have for any gamer.
What's great about it: Great game play
What's not so great: its short

* This game has a very interesting story - a man has created a city that is "free from petty morality" as he put it. One where the great will not be limited by the weak. And in a way I admired the man who built a city from scratch, but then as you get further into the story you begin to see his dark side. The power struggles that go on and the atrocities commited keep getting deeper and I could barely stop playing because I wanted to find out what happened next. Why have the people gone crazy? What happened to the city?
* The sound effects are awesome with a good system. I could feel it everytime the big daddy took a step.
* The graphics are some of the best I've seen on the 360.
* There is plenty of gameplay depth as far as abilities go. You can use all sorts of different tactics to defeat your enemies. There isn't one specific way that you have to do things, which is a sign of good game designers.
* Bottom Line: If you appreciate a good story and a detailed world then you will love this game.
What's great about it: Story, abilities, sound quality, graphics
What's not so great: Not much replay value

The story line was amazing, it really kept me going, but i had to keep the volume down because of all the swearing, so i couldn't really understand all of it, but that is not that big of an issue, just go on Youtube or type in on Google or Yahoo, "storyline of BioShock".
To me this game is now a classic and should be in every home. the graphics are amazing and there is PLENTY to explore and discover! And if you have a surround sound system, you will LOVE this game!
Some things you need to know:
they bomb the f word {for all you little kids out there} ; )
there is no nudity as far as I know {sorry guys} ; )
you can get an achievement by not harvesting any little girls
the game is not creepy at all { if you want a game that is creepy play dead space}
What's great about it: graphics and plot
What's not so great: it says xbox live on cover but there is no multiplayer wth?
