What's great about it: Quiet & powerful
What's not so great: Dim light & face shows everything
I've owned this very same model since about 2002. The only difference is that the 2002 model was made in Mexico, while the newest version I just replaced it with is made in Thailand. My first one stood up to daily, heavy use for 9-10 years. We don't just reheat pizza and coffee like so many other people. We do at least half our cooking in it - from frozen vegetables to meat loaf, chicken, fish, stuffed green peppers, chicken pot pies, turkey legs, soup, hot dogs, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes plus, oh yeah, reheating pizza and coffee! Seriously, I can't begin to figure the thousands of hours it has been in use. It's a good sign that Sharp continues to sell this model after so long.
The first one was fairly noisy and the display died an early death, but would sporadically come back to life with a partial display. We lived with that for at least 6 years because the main unit just wouldn't die. Now we have the newest version which is physically, and technically, identical. Thing is, this one is so quiet I could hardly believe it! And, now we can once again use its many custom cooking features because we can actually read the display!! I like that the push-button door release is even more positive than before - the door actually swings open when you press it. I have read reviews of other microwaves where the release was weak, or would easily break. My original 2002 door release never failed.
My minor gripes are that the interior bulb should be a bit brighter, the black surface shows every fingerprint and smudge, the interior isn't rounded in back for easy cleaning like some newer competing designs and the turntable cannot be turned off when using very large cookware/multiple plates, etc. (neither do their competitor's models). By the way, we wanted to get the stainless steel version but it is priced ridiculously higher than the black/white version - like $130 to $200 more for a stainless face plate!!!! We decided to live with the highly visible smudges and fingerprints on black because white is not an option in our black and stainless kitchen.
So, if this new one is as mechanically reliable as the 2002 one, and the display is more reliable (usually a reliable component), then I'm going to be a very happy camper. I've read literal horror stories about the failure rates of comparable big Panasonic, LG and GE microwaves - even when checking different sites with different reviewers. This model had the most positive reviews of all the big models, and I had decent luck with my first one, so I'm back for more!
P.S. Best Buy was the best buy - delivered free to my door!

What's great about it: It is big.
What's not so great: Could do better job with control panel.
This microwave has enough power to heat a large plate of food which, because of its size, it is meant to do. It weighs a lot less than the 20 year old one that it replaced and makes a tinny noise when you close the door. It is not top-of-the-line but then neither is the price. The turntable works well although the spindle is not terribly substantial. The control buttons could be better done. A lot of space is used for all this automatic cooking yet the "off/on" button is hard to find. I tried the auto defrost for frozen vegetables and it seemed that it was going to cook on and on until I rescued the veggies but that could have been my problem. The minute timer goes up in minute increments instead of 30 second increments which because this oven has enough power is too much. The LED is orange and looks a little cheesy But so far, it works well.

What's not so great: Not a thing I can find so far.. well, I guess that could make it cheaper ;-)
I've owned quite a few microwaves. Most of them have been quite good since we do a lot of reseach before we buy. Both selecting the item and then price shopping. When my old mirowave failed, we started looking for a new one. This unit really stood out. It has a very large cooking chamber without taking up too much space. It has a lot of really nice features, some of which I'm still learning to use. I've watched the prices for the unit and what we paid at Best Buy is still the best price around. What else can you ask for? How about a very good warranty plan. I don't usually buy warranties on lower price items (under $500 as a rule) because they just don't justify. When I bought the microwave, I passed on the warranty, but they gave me 30 days to change my mind. When I considered the unit cost, the convenience of on-site repair or replacement with another new unit of the same or better quality all for $40 for a 4 year period, it just made sense to me. I'm glad I ordered the "insurance" even if I never use it. It means I know my needs are met in full for 4 years. I'd expect that by then, better technology will be available, but we'll see. The mirowave is very powerful and does everything unusually well. The special features are helpful and I use them all the time. My 27 year old son doesn't bother with them, but finds the basic functions to be completely adequate. The unit is easy to clean and quiet. The bottom line is that everything I buy should be as well made, cost effective and convenient as this microwave.

What's great about it: Cooks microwave popcorn very well!
What's not so great: You cannot have the timer going and microwave something at the same time.
Instead of preset times i.e. 1=one minute ... 6=six minutes. It has a sensor cook for a bunch of different types of dishes. Some work very well ... cooking popcorn. Others could fall into several different cook modes. You can always just enter in the cook time & start cooking.
The power level is a bit monotonous since you have to push it repeatedly to shift down one-tenth power level. So if you need to cook a dish at 50%, you have to push it five times.

The microwave has a +1 minute button, which might have been better if it was a +30 seconds button. You can't hear the microwave/timer done chime in the other room. In cases where you are supposed to let the microwave dish set w/o cooking, you can't have the timer going and microwave at the same time so that the timer tells you when you can open the stove.
I don't know about other models, but mine is marked 1200 Watts, not 1100. It's great to cook quickly, but also takes a bit of getting used to if you had a lower wattage microwave.
I may not use their 15-minute functions very often. It will be fun when I have time to put towards a specific dish & meal, but most the time I am throwing something in to reheat or small pre-made entree or side dish to cook.
With any microwave you must measure the oven before-hand, but with this model it recommends for best ventilation to have 3-4+ extra inches of space behind the microwave. We purchased the counter-top model.

What's great about it: Easy to use and big
Microwave works well. Very large and powerful. Had to learn to cut some time off a few things as the power of this microwave oven cooks quicker. Only negative was it arrived with a missing rubber foot which Sharp sent to me directly rather quickly. Fairly quiet too for it's size.

I bought my first Sharp 15 years ago. I upgraded to the 2.0 ten years ago. My old microwave went through hell in its life and managed to survive. When it came time for a new one, there was no other choice. Sharp is the leader in microwaves, hands down.

Fantastic microwave. We think it is just great. Didn't even need to look at the instruction book to figure it out. Love the little cheat sheet inside of the microwave door for the defrost cycles. Highly recommend.

When my old Sharp Carousel Microwave finally died after 10 years I wanted to replace it with the same thing and this was as close as I could get. This is a large microwave which is easy to program and use. It has 1100 watts power which is less than my previous microwave but is plenty for all my needs. I would recommend this microwave to anyone who is looking for a simple microwave without the bells and whistles that come with so many of the newer microwaves.

Most people, don't need a 2 cubic ft. microwave, but if you do , this one fits the bill. Easy to use, has an electronic sensor to keep cooking times accurate. Easy to clean, and appears to have a long work life.
For now this product gets a five. Uses allot of counter space, so I wouldn't recommend for students or people who have limited space.

What's great about it: Works as billed

This microwave performs as billed. Features are nice and seem to be easy to find. Multiple minutes are easily added by pressing the "1 Minute" button multiple times. This doesn't have a 30 second button like our other mw oven had, but when cooking for a short period, either program that much time, or press 1 minute and stop it early. We don't like the LCD display as well as our last mw. The information is made up of a lot of big dots rather than having a crisp look. The bell at the end of cooking only rings once and has no reminder ring. These little things reduce it from 5 to 4 stars. It's still a good oven.

What's great about it: Everything that I just checked.
I just replaced by Sharp Carousel II microwave, which I had for 24 years, with a new Sharp microwave,same size and color. It came today and I have been cooking in it all day. Love it, love it, love it. Just like my old one only a little more streamlined. I am going to be highly upset if my new one does not last at least for the next 20 years. Thank you Sharp for making such a great product and thanks to Best Buy for having exactly what I wanted and getting it to me so quickly.

What's great about it: Very easy to use
What's not so great: Cat paw prints show up on top surface.
It's a microwave, so it either works or it doesn't. This one was more wattage than the one it replaced, and that took some getting used to. But, once we figured out to cut down the times, it's been great.
Menu sticker on inside door to use some of the keypad features is great. Better than trying to look through the manuel when you have an odd amount to defrost.
I went from a Sharp that I'd had for almost 15 years to this one, and I can only hope it lasts as long.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We previously had owned the next smaller Sharp Microwave model for 10 years and loved it. In fact, it was still working when we decided to replace it with a newer one. With all of the other models to choose from, the Sharp still came out on top. This one has a few more features over the old one and like the old one does a great job. Not only was the price right but the great value and reliability we came to appreciate from Sharp sealed the deal. You can't go wrong on this microwave.

Our old Sharp was 10 years old and needed replacing although we never had a problem with it. The kitchen was redecorated and needed a different color. Bought the same brand again although slightly larger.
It is excellent and well worth the price. We likeitvery much.

Big enough to meet all of our microwave needs. Controls are easy and the specific food usages on the control panel are also easy and accurate. We did a bag of microwave popcorn and it did not burn and was properly cooked all the kernels.

What's not so great: maybe a clearer window
My first Sharp lasted 24 years, so I bought another and I love it. It is big enough for casserole dishes, round and square. It has all the features I need to do even simple things, like popcorn and beverage buttons, and defrosts perfectly. The timer gets used a lot. The black color with window is what I wanted. It seems to cook faster than my old one. We like the fan, soft cool air, coming out the bottom front, as it lightly cools the cook and kitchen. If I could change one thing, it would be a clearer window to see what's cooking, even with the cooking light on. Not a complaint though.

Bought this Sharp to replace one that died. Sharp makes great products and this full size unit really delivers. It has all the features I need and then some. Ordered on line with BB and the unit arrived in just a couple of days. Great service!

Although it is mising a 30sec quick button it is a hit as far quality goes. Now if I could have only got this in stainless steel that would have been nice
