I bought this printer about 5 months ago and absolutely love it. I really like that it has 8 individual ink tanks. It is much cheaper to replace the inks this way. I get wonderfully bright pictures in all sizes. I can't say enough about this printer. If you scrapbook or print pictures for a living this is the printer for you. My 12 by 12 scrapbook pages print out with no streaks or off color spots. I've printed on canvas texture paper with no problems!
What's great about it: It prints on any kind of paper with excellent results
What's not so great: I've had a little trouble with borderless pictures.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I went to Best Buy to buy Bluray discs and walked out with a printer! The sticker sales price was $349 and I asked half jocking if they could do any better, and they did! They gave me a price of $225 and at that price I had to add it to my collection of printers.......
If IBM was making printers today it would look just like that. It looks like a million bucks printer. The paper handling is fabulous. The printing is almost unsurpassed for color printing. I can't belive my luck.
What's great about it: One of the very best printer for color
What's not so great: Needs to be updated to compete with more recent offerings from HP and Epson
I would recommend this to a friend!

The difference between the Pro9000 and Pro9500 is the type of ink used. The Pro9000 uses dye ink (prints should last up to 20 years) and the Pro 9500 uses pigment ink (prints should last up two hundred years.) Personally, I'm satisfied with my prints lasting up to 20 years. For the photographer/artist who wants to sell their work to collectors, the Pro 9000 may not be the first choice. I have yet to experiment with Canon's Fine Art paper. I bought this printer because I have a 12 MP camera and I wanted to print on larger sizes of media. I love it so far... I use it exclusively for photos/art projects. I keep a Canon S820 (with a faulty print head) for printing documents. Buy the Pro9000--excellent value for money.
What's great about it: Awesome quality; fast prints
What's not so great: It's huge

this printer is good when it works, have had to replace printer two times due to internal failures of unit. first unit
failed due to err code 5101 and took back to store(best Buy) and exchanged for another unit and got it home and would not work due to print head failure. canon only wants to replace my new unit with refurbished unit.
will the third unit be bad to? Canon seems to have no shortage of refurbished units in stock.

Got this last week and it's tremendous! I'm printing on Canon Pro and Plus papers, as well as Ilford gallerie papers. They're all breathtaking. My friends and family think they're professionally printed. I'm really happy with it. Had a Canon pixma i6600. Not even in the same category. I'm so glad I upgraded. Will print up to 13x19. It's fast too! But it is gigantic!!! I absolutely highly recommend it!

I've had a couple of the canon printers. The first, a canon ip6600d I replaced with this unit as I had a number of problems with that 6600 reporting ink cartridges as in the wrong slots, two of the same color etc. I bought this printer as it used the same cartridges and i couldn't face throwing away all of my spares - big mistake! Similar problems - seems to be a common issue on the canons using these types of catridges - canon support is good, they will replace the 'bad' ink cartridges, but that's a lot of hassle if it happens more than once (i've now thrown away 4 ink catridges - most with >50% full).
So in summary, a good printer provided you can afford to keep on replacing the ink! Not recommended
What's great about it: Good quality output
What's not so great: Very expensive in wasted inks

Canon Pixma Pro 9000

I have used the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer for about two months. I have been able to produce outstanding 4 * 6, 8 * 10, and 13 * 19 color prints for my Customers.
The gradation of color, color matching and detail is what makes this printer so appealing.
The speed of producing high quality color prints is very fast, not the case with black & white photos which take a long time.
What's great about it: Image quality, speed (color), paper handling
What's not so great: Speed (black & white)

from Belfair, WA.
I chose this printer because it was a dedicated photo printer and wasn't limited to an 8x10 printing cap. I printed a large quanity of 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10's for Christmas and was very happy with the results. The print speed was great and the color excellent.
I take a wide variety of photos both in/outdoors. The colors in the prints have been pretty accurate.
If you are looking for a higher end printer that delivers, I think you will be happy with this printer.
What's great about it: Print size options; Print quality; Individual Ink Cartridges
What's not so great: haven't discovered any yet
I would recommend this to a friend!
