very difficult

Over promises and under delivers. Can get the wireless working for no more than an hour at a time. I have wasted hours and hours trying to get this thing to work with WiFi but to no avail. Also, each time I turn it on the start up cycling wastes a ton of very expensive ink. The start up routine also wastes a lot of time making me wait way too long for the simple print out of one page of text.

As a Canon Loyalist, Very Disappointing!

I do professional photography and have Canon Cameras, Scanners and other wide format photo printers. This has been the worst cannon product I have owned and would get rid of it if I did not purchase. This printer is very slow and takes more than 15 seconds to prep for printing. Prints fairly good speed but recycles and doesn't manage ink well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Avid Canon User and Very Disappointed

I am always excited when Canon comes out with a new printer, but the 7220 is a disappointment.
The printed colors are off compared to the ip4920. They print with a much more blue tone. I've tried making adjustments in the printer software, but am having trouble warming up the photos.
The 7220 also does not provide a rear paper feed. Instead it has two trays, one for regular paper and one for photo paper. This really limits what you can do with the printer and I found myself constantly having to reload paper.
The smallest paper size that can be used is 3.5 inches wide vs the 4920 that would allow a width of 2.17 inches. This limits the ability to print wallet prints and other custom photos with the 7220.
The photo paper drawer broke on me during its second use.
Its disappointing that the 7220 replaces the 4920 and takes away two pieces of necessary functionality, the rear paper tray and the ability to print anything smaller than 3.5 inches wide.
The one pro is the larger ink tanks.
Pros: reliable, durable
Cons: Large Footprint, Difficult Setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A waste of money

I have had several canon products in the past, with no complaints. All have be good.
The ip7720 is a waste of time and money. I had had this printer for over a year and don't use it very often - for two good reasons: The printer takes forever to start up and it drains ink like it has a hole in the cartridge, especially the black ink.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Slow, noisy, eats up too much ink.

I've been using this printer for over 2 years. Although I am a fan of Canon products (mainly dSLR cameras and lenses) this inkjet printer was a huge disappointment.
Although the print quality is very good, the warm up time, the noise and the consumption of ink are simply unacceptable. It takes the printer forever to start up, its printing function is noisy and the draining of (expensive) ink cartridges comes very fast.
It is a shame for Canon engineers to have come up with this bulky and substandard product, which I definitely do NOT recommend to anyone who needs to print a page in less than a minute's time.
Is the quality of printouts good? Yes.
Does double-sided printing work well? Yes.
Is the printer agreeably fast? Not at all.
Is cost per page affordably low? No.
Is the printer's software good? Not really.
Does the printer jam frequently? No, never.
Is wireless printing easy? Yes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too Slow! Too much ink!

This is a disappointing and surprising step backwards in technology. This printer takes forever getting itself started up, then takes a minute or two getting ready to print. The printing goes fast, but the print rate is extremely misleading because they don't include the wasted minutes that this machine spends making noise and doing whatever to prep for printing. Did the engineers try this thing before it went on the market? How does something so ineffective become a product?

Whew!

I love Canon products, and I've used them in my business as a professional photographer for nearly 30 years. I love Canon.
That said, this has been a frustrating experience to get up and running. The "quick start" insturctions are difficult to follow, mainly because they are very lengthy when they do not need to be. But that was the least of my complaints. The printer was advertised as having a "Print CD" feature, but nowhere in the instruction manual is that feature listed. I bought this printer specifically to print CD's, as I have other photo-quality printers. I had to go online to a Canon user's forum and also to YouTube to find the instructions on how to create a CD/DVD template (which required a separate download from the Canon website) and ow to make the printer print on a CD/DVD.
If it had not been so inexpensive, I would have given the experience 1 star.

Poor Quality Printer

Within a year, began to have multiple problems with printer. The one problem I could not fix was that the printer would not recognize and print on 4" x 6" photo paper. My opinion it is not a well designed printer.
