Rear Tray Gone?
on March 19, 2013

VERY disappointed the 4900 Series is replaced by this. The top loading feed has been replaced by a second (useless) smaller 2nd Cartridge bottom tray. Envelopes are an absolute nightmare to print with this printer. You have to remove the larger of the two bottom trays, reset the paper size and reload. Why Canon has done away with the versatility of the top loading feeder is beyond me. I have used the Canon line of printers for over 10 years in my business. Time to move on to another manufacturer who has stayed loyal to top loading. Farewell Canon, it's been a wonderful journey.
Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, unreliable, no top loader
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Huge disappointment

Using this printer for a year no wait to be more correct printing 4 to 6 pages a month and already swapped cartridges 3 times. Do not want to mention about 4 minutes noise that it make before each print or every time you turn it ON, that what probably eats all of your ink.

Uses ink at a prodigious rate

The printer uses a lot of ink in cleaning print heads and not printing. I have gone through at least 4 sets of cartridges and printed less than 200 pages - mainly text.
It also takes quite a bit of time to print first page, probably because it is using up all the ink cleaning the heads. After first page it prints quickly.
I do make sure that I either turn off printer or let it turn itself off.
Quality of print seems fine. I have not done pictures with it, because color ink is always gone by the time I think about printing picture.
It does not like to print black and white if color cartridges are empty.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

NO REAR FEED - awful printer
on September 24, 2013

I have been an devoted canon customer for 9 years. Have exclusively used canon printers (and cameras) for both business and personal use. This new printer is supposed to replace the 4900 printer series, but they have taken away the rear feed! Without the rear feed it's impossible to print quality photos, print on envelopes, print placecards, etc. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on canon products and this new printer is a complete disappointment. Until canon brings back the rear feed option, I will have to spend my money elsewhere.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable, no rear feed, hard to print photos, hard to print envelopes, impossible to print custom sizes
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What happened to Rear Feed?
on June 12, 2013

What happened to feeding from the Rear Tray? I print thousands of photos per month with custom cut paper. Since this model is replacing the 5320, I no longer have the option to print from the rear tray with a quality Canon photo printer. Going to look for a new provider!
Cons: no rear tray feed!

VERY-VERY GOOG TO PRINT PHOTOS
on April 1, 2016

I bought this printer 7 months ago I am so happy. I print only photos on Canon photo paper PRO PLATINUM, paper that says Chromalife 100. I never use wireless I put any new photo I have taken with camera chip. I don't print direct because I have to EDIT the Photos with Edit software. I some noise this is because the printer cleans the print head and the cartridges and generally makes the preparation for print. This is what they teach me when I took 3 months classes for print and edit photos. To be honest I will buy another one and I will keep in the box until this one collapse.
I buy always the XL cartridges.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not for Documents
on March 2, 2013

In theory this has two paper drawers. However, the upper one is for photo paper only. It won't take even 6 X 9 paper. And if you want to print an envelope, you first must remove the paper in the lower drawer.
Lousy design.
If I knew how to tell the home office, I would.
I miss my old IP4000 which could handle two sets of letter-sized paper or anything in between and had easy access for printing envelopes.
Cons: noisy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Terrible new replacement
on May 7, 2013

This is suppose to replace our 4920 printers for our photo booth company. To remove the top load feature basically makes this product useless to us. Even if we wanted to use the front loader, it does not even go small enough to hold our 2x7 strips. We have been using the canon Pixma for years now and this is a terrible replacement that Canon has come out with. How could you take away a top load feature on a photo printer? I am very disappointed in Canon for making this paper weight. I hope all of these poor reviews will show Canon that doing away with the top loader was a HUGE MISTAKE!
Pros: nice paper weight
Cons: Low Quality Output, no top loader
