Excellent, and small!

I purchased this model, to go along with, the other 2 models of Rebels I currently own. I am a news photographer and carry quite a lot of gear, when I have to shoot. I was immediately drawn to its smaller size and weight, and its Canon reputation. I was very satisfied with its features, and its compactness. The ability to use all the same lenses as my "bigger" EOS cameras made it a no brainer as to which camera I would use professionally. Anytime I need to use it, it is up to whatever situation arises, and meets all my criteria. Its ease of use, and compact form, allows my hand to grip it tighter, and to gives me more flexibility in any shooting scenario. Its much lighter weight allows me not to feel weighed down, even when using a super telephoto lens. The picture quality is outstanding, and its high resolution makes cropping, a easy task. It only has one down side, there isn't a battery grip currently available for it, and its own battery, while lasting a really descent amount of time, needs recharging a little more frequently then I would like. Overall, this is an excellent camera for both the novice and pro alike.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, ability to use most lenses

Small size, Big features

First off, one reviewer here says the camera won't autofocus with non-STM lenses. I have FOUR non-STM EF-S lenses (10-22,18-55, 15-80, 55-250) and the camera works very smoothly with all of them, so I don't know WHAT he's talking about. The camera is beautifully designed, has all the features of the T3i it replaced except for the articulating screen, but of course now it's a sophisticated touchscreen. Makes using the camera so much easier. Even when you are using a big lens, the smaller camera body size helps. I generally run the larger 15-80 lens (GREAT zoom) and when I want a smaller size for portability I go to the 18-55 that I saved from my T3i, which is smaller and lighter than the STM kit lens they sell with this camera. Again, all these lenses work great with the SL-1, so that other review is highly inaccurate, and trashing the camera with a one star rating based on faulty information is a puzzling thing to do, and misleading to other camera buyers.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life

Very compact, easy to carry around everywhere I go, fits easily in my bag. Good image quality, and also compatible with old ef lenses without issue. And its light weight makes hours of shooting way less straining.

Excellent results after 1000 pictures

Just finished shooting 700 pictures while traveling in Europe. The SL1 performed excellent. Great picture quality and ease of use. Used many of the features to capture unique shots. Small size was a plus while traveling. Quick start up time enabled the capture of some shots that may have been missed.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu

Love my Little SLR

I've owned a variety of Canon cameras, both point and shoot and SLR Rebels. When the SL1 came out, I bought it right away for the small size and put away my Canon 60D. I haven't gone back. I love the small size of the camera body and have now purchased all the STM lenses also. I primarily use the white EF L 70-200 lens or the EFS 17-55 lens. I also like the new 24 mm pancake lens. My only complaint is that there hasn't been a second edition of this camera nor a firmware update.

Excellent Camera

I have always loved Canon, I owned a Powershot A620 when it was released in 2005, but soon failed on me in 2013. Then I recently upgraded my camera in 2015 w/ EOS Rebel SL1 & the quality is still high grade just like my older canon. The freatures & settings it has delivers AMAZING professional photo quality without even photo shopping it. It captures the beauty of nature in Hawaii so perfectly. :) love this camera. Highly recommend buying this if this will be your first professional camera. Big Tip, read the instruction manual on each of the setting so you can capture great pictures. :)

I really enjoy this camera.

I purchased this camera mainly for video and as a backup for my 7D. Video is outstanding using the STM lens.(40mm however seems to generate noisy audio). I am very satisfied with the IQ and with a little practice it fits my hand with comfort. I like it so much I sold my 7D and will use it until the 7D replacement comes out. Battery life is not a problem and seems greater than advertised. The light weight is addictive and I find myself taking this places I normally would take a pocket camera.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

For the Rebel line of DSLR's I cant understand why anyone would buy the T5i when this is for all essential purposes the exact same camera but in a smaller body.
As an enthusiest with small hands I feel this is perfect, granted I'm still use to larger bodies.
overall it is an excellent camera.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life
