I had a friend get me into the book series. Then i found this movie. Worst. Movie. Ever. Don't buy this, don't watch it, you will regret it.

it's worth watching, but i wouldn't buy it.
pros:
nice special effects, graphics.
cons:
the movie was slow getting started, and by the end it had felt sort of like a lord of the rings wannabe.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It is a good movie that is close to the book

If you haven't read the book it starts as our hero Eragon dreaming of some one (will be named later) who is running from a dark wizard. Later while hunting through the forest Eragon finds a big blue stone and takes it. Later the stone hatches and a little blue baby girl dragon comes out. She grows up after a little while as Eragon finds out about Dragon Riders. Not long after Saphira grows to full leangth Eragon's uncle is killed and he is taken by a "town drunk" who turns out to know more about dragons then he let on. While on their path to find the last of the Varden (people who faught aginst the king) they deal with Razacs, and the kings forces as well as find the woman who Eragon was dreaming about.
Its a good movie but some of the goofs are painfuly obvious, but that is what makes some movies so unforgetable
What's great about it: Its a good moie that is good if you haven't read the book or love dragons
What's not so great: It's not to exatly like the book but its still good
I would recommend this to a friend!

OK the movie is good but the reason to buy this dvd is to watch the extras on the 2nd disk. Their are deleted parts and if you look deep enough you will find out about the 3rd book and the 2nd movie. Its a really good movie that will show you the world of Eragon.
What's great about it: its a good buy
What's not so great: none
I would recommend this to a friend!

My BF is the one who wanted us to see this movie. I have to admit I was apprehensive at first, but when the movie ended we agreed that it was one of the best movies we had seen. The ending makes you so excited for part 2. The only thing I didn't like was the ghostlike dragon was too easy to destroy.....ANXIOUSLY WAITING PART 2!!! lol
What's great about it: Dragons+Great plot+based on the book=Great movie
What's not so great: The nemesis dragon that was ghostlike was defeated too easily.
I would recommend this to a friend!

this is a good story about good verses evil.they left some of the key parts that were in the book .they left out when eragon bless the child.that is a key part in the second book. i wuold recomend reading the book.
What's great about it: a good story for the whole family

This movie was recommended to me by 'futuremrsbrazil' to watch this movie, but it reminded me of two other saga movies, namely Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I liked it but with the young farm boy learning about dragon riding, it was too much like Luke Skywalker learning about the Force. Okay, what happened to the farm boy's brother? He left at the beginning of the movie and never returned, but the ending left an openning of a sequel, just like Lord of the Rings. I don't think it will continue, because the tickets sales was low.
What's great about it: SGI of the dragon was nice
What's not so great: Not original
I would recommend this to a friend!

Following up to the amazing book comes the movie Eragon. The movie features new actors that can't act, a big cut out of the book's storyline which was stupid since the movei is a pretty short movie, and fairly good visual effects, I was happy about them.
What's great about it: Pretty Good Visual Effects, OK Movie
What's not so great: Bad Acting, Not True to the Book
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
