Nolan's gorgeous period-drama about two rival magicians makes a wonderful addition to the UHD home format. Like all of the Nolan 4K releases, this new transfer was created using the films original camera negative and supervised by Nolan and his director of photography. The film is complex with rich characters and a chilling climax. While not very successful upon its initial theatrical release, the film is beloved by all who stumble upon it now. The new 4K transfer looks beautiful and while some will complain about the lack of a new Atmos audio track, this decision was left to Nolan and I respect his choice to reuse the original 5.1 lossless from the bluray release. Enjoyable Nolan film, but package falls short

I enjoyed the Prestige thoroughly when I saw it upon original release. Upon watching again years later, it is still thoroughly enjoyable. My main issue is with this release - it is a 2 disc release whereas if you had purchased the larger, Nolan collection set, you would have had a 3 disc release. My understanding is that the content of discs 2 and 3 were combined on the standalone release, but sacrificed quality to do so. I would have much preferred the 3 disc version if it were available standalone, which it is not in the US. Very disappointing.
