surface light - poor design

The so-called surface light on my JVM 1540SP1SS microwave does NOT light the surface. Bad design - it lights only the very back of the range below. I wish I had thought to look for the light before I purchased the microwave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this mircrowave. We have always had GE microwaves as well as other GE applicance for the kitchen. This was actually installed in our kitchen before we moved into our new house, but this is what we would have purchased anyways. We decided to go with all GE appliances for our kitchen and love them all!

We had one warranty issue on it during the first 6 months which was handled professionally by GE's staff. As stated in the rating I believe it is a great value and looks good. I have always preferred GE's products and continue to look forward to continuing this winning relationship.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had a counter-top microwave for many, many years and were happy with it, but the convenience of this over-the-range model is wonderful, not only due to the quality of the appliance, but also because so much counter-top space is now free. I also appreciate the light that illuminates my range top and the fan that draws off steam and cooking odors. Our only negative comment is that the fan is VERY loud, so there is no missing it anywhere in the house when someone is using the microwave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works very well. Heats food as I would expect. Keypad features are well placed and are easy to use. The only problem is the light that provides light for the stove below the microwave. The light is so dim that I have to have another source of light and I cannot find anything in the manual that references the light and how it works. Overall, a very good microwave.
