I was pleased with this movie and was not expecting the suspense of it. Leonardo DiCaprio dispays a stunning performance. This movie captures the greed and desperation of people for wealth. While in retrospect, the disparity of those that are poor on a level that is incomparable to what we could ever imagine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Edward Zwick's second best film, "Blood Diamond" tells the story of one man who hides a diamond and is separated from his family (Djimon Hounsou) and one man who wants to find the diamond (Leonardo DiCaprio). Together, they try to help each other meet their goals -- much like in a working economy, supply and demand are balanced.
While not quite as good as "Glory," the film manages to be compelling and among 2006's best dramas. At 143 minutes, the film never feels too long.
The DVD's special features are extensive. Fans of the film will want to purchase the 2-disc special edition over the decrepit single disc. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: widescreen version of the film, good special features
What's not so great: none

This was one of those movies that had a good point to it but took too long in the process.The cast made this movie come to life as things like this do go on in Africa.And the message it sends to the audience "Diamonds are forever" but there's blood on your hands.Kids,Fathers,Mothers in Africa die in the process of making,and finding these diamonds.
What's great about it: acting,message
What's not so great: movie is too long

this movie was great. leo speaks something ive never heard before but hes still good, good enough to get nominated i guess. the story is scadered all over the place but not to confusing, its mostly a survival story. there is a lot of violence but it looks real and most of the action scenes are well done. like the battle in that town when even the military surebdered to the bad guys. a lot of this movie just shows you how harsh some countries really are and you should respect that, like how rambo was. overall, this was a solid adventure movie.
What's great about it: leonardo dicaprio, length, sad but good ending
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Movie

This movie is a very powerful and interesting movie. IT tells the story of the illegal diamond smuggling in Sierra Lione and has a subplot of the the child soldiers that are prevelant throughout Africa. The acting is very good and the roles are played almost to perfection. THe only problem I have with the movie is there was a love story thrown in at the end of the movie. This angered me only because it makes the movie to similar to many other movies. However, besides that, the movie is great and I definetly recommend it.
What's great about it: Action, Acting, Story
What's not so great: Love Story
I would recommend this to a friend!

This movie shows a part of the world that no one wants to see and they did a good job making a movie about it. The ending surprised me but was good.

at first i was a little skeptical of buying a leonardo dicaprio movie but it turned out to be an excellent buy. this movie opens your eyes to ways of life that you never had to see before, or at least with your own eyes and its a life not too many have to live
