This is one of my husband's favorite movies. For me a typical underdog sports theme, but it is well done. If you are a fan of Gene Hackman and high school basketball this is a movie for you. There are some suspenseful scenes and some decent basketball playing.

Hoosiers is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. It's up there with Brian's Song. The 1954 basketball team from a small Indiana community that won the state championship shows how they overcame a multitude of obstacles. You will love it!

What's great about it: I lived in Indiana for a couple of years in high school. The fanaticism of the people is spot on. Very good story.

What's not so great: It is a period piece. But it is based on a true 1954 basketball team.
