I would not use this for surround speakers unless there is NO other way of wiring the speakers because the sound quality is limited with the small amp inside. This DOES work nice for getting sound to an extra room where it won't be turned up TOO loud.
What's great about it: Wireless works well. LOW price.

The Rocketfish wireless system works as advertised. It's easy to set up and with my rear surround speakers the sound quality is good. You can wall mount the receiver/amplifier, which I did behind a lounge chair, so it's out of the way. The only problem is that the slots used in wall mounting require the unit to face downward, would have been nice to have multiple slots configured so you can mount it in the direction desired. The cable connections on both the transmitter and receiver/amp are of the push type. 16 gauge wire fits fine, and maybe even 14 guage would work. Since a long run of wire probably won't be required, this shouldn't be an issue. The only other thing that is an issue (a small one) is that the transmitter either has to be on all the time, or you have to turn it on each time. The way it is, if you plug it into a switched outlet on your systems receiver, when you turn your system reciever off, the Rocketfish turns off and even when you turn your system receiver back on, it remains off. You have to turn it on separately each time you turn your receiver on.
What's great about it: Works as advertised, easy to set up, good sound
What's not so great: Either have to leave on all the time, or turn on each time

I bought this 2 weeks ago after moving into a new house and not having a good way to run my surround sound rear speakers. I looked at several true "wireless" speakers, but none seemed to be very good. Then I found this, and with all the good ratings, I decided to try it out. When I bought it, it was online only, but now is available in stores. It was a breeze to hook up, it took about 10 mins. It linked up instantly, and has always connected. Sound is good, no buzzing or humming or anything. I agree, there should be some sort of remote to turn on and off the rear amp/receiver, but if that is the only complaint, then I have none. Music sounds good, HD 5.1 sound is excellent, overall would (and have) recommend this.

I bought this wireless kit because well, wires suck. It seems like a good idea but I have a 700 watt system, the rear speakers are 70 watts each, not enough power comes out of the tiny little rear end reciever for it to power them. they need a higher end model. Most systems now are higher watts just do a search on bestbuys site and you'll see.
What's great about it: It looks like a great idea
What's not so great: 25 watts won't power higher end speakers.

I absolutely love this. It eliminates the need for having to run wires all the way to the rear speakers which, as everyone knows, is a HUGE pain. The ease of setup is fantastic and the sound quality is good considering it's wireless. But. My biggest issue with this product is that it interferes with my wireless internet. If I have my laptop in any part of the room where this is turned on, the internet will start flipping on and off. Apparently the wireless signal that connects the sender to the reciever somehow interferes with wireless internet signal and I'm repeating myself. Sorry. Ease of use and the fact that it actually works. A+. But this thing with the internet is pretty annoying. Would I recommend it to a friend? Probably, just be aware of the wireless internet issue. Otherwise! Great product! And a great start into a technology that we should have had ages ago! (Maybe make it Bluetooth? I dunno if that would help the internet issue)
What's great about it: Wireless. Enough said. Sound Quality is pretty good for wireless hookup
What's not so great: It interferes with any wireless internet

I have used this setup for a few weeks now and am very impressed with the unit. The whole setup is very small and won't take up much space either in your entertainment cabinet or behind your couch. It comes with everything you need to use the system with your existing surround sound, even some speaker wire. The transmitter is black and matches my surround sound receiver. The speaker reciever comes with a stand and even has the capability of being mounted on the wall. I have not noticed any type of sound degradation compared to the wired connection I used before. The only complaint is the transmitter has a red light on the front to let you know the receiver is wirelessly connected, though the light isn't bright in can be a distraction when watching a movie in the dark. This light should have been positioned on the back of the transmitter. This is not a big problem since the tranmitter can be hidden and still work. I got this for $80 on Black Friday and was a little skeptical but when I got them home was pleasantly surprised. Knowing what I know now I would definately pay full price for it and suggest it to anyone wanting to get rid of the speaker wires run all over your house.
What's great about it: Easy setup, Aesthetically pleasing, Easily hidden, Good sound quality
What's not so great: Still need some wire, Red light on transmitter

Works great on a second set of Bose Acoustimass speakers located in a remote room in my home. I have not been able to install wire to run these so Best Buy suggested I try the Rocketfish and we couldn't be more pleased. Rocketfish just needs to eliminate the giant red light on the receiver (I still can't figure out why they did that).
What's great about it: No wires to string between rooms
