To get true surround sound you need rear speakers but I could not have them if it was not for the wireless setup. I would have had to run wiring across the entire family room and that was just not acceptable.

This product was exactly what I needed to eliminate an area rug in my living room that was solely there to cover rear speaker wires. It was simple to connect and I like how it amplifies the rear speakers if necessary. The only drawback was the bright red light that is on the unit; however a small piece of electrical tape covers it no problem.
