when i got my ps3, i didnt have internet on it, and started playing GTA4, didnt realize i was missing out on trophies till i got internet on my ps3, and it basically just smacked me in the face, and i was faced to restart my game...i had just gotten into Algonquin too....however, being able to recap those missions, i did it. and i sat there from 11 am till 12 pm....yeah.....best hours that week, no jokes.
the online play is great, even though its almost a year old, it still has tons of people online.
i would 100% recommend this to a friend, and might have to start gifting it =D! haha
What's great about it: Graphics, Diverse Radio, In-Car GPS, Online Play, Suits That Look Crisp! haha
What's not so great: No Car Customization - only Pay-N-Spray :(

as a GTA fan since it was first created, this one has the best graphics (TY PS3). Similiar to the others, the game has an excellent free roam capability, which is enchanced by an in game GPS capability(something the others dont have). The storyline has certain points that the player gets to choose his fate, which makes it have some replay value(very little). Compared to rockstars past games, GTA San Andreas, and GTA Vice City, this game has alot less featuers that keep it interesting. For example in Vice City you could buy and make money from properties, and in San Andreas you could customize your vehicle, and at a point in the game you were able to take over rival gangs land, and also fight to keep your own land.
GTA IV also ofeers online play should you wish to get online and see how you stand vs other players. there are a few different modes, and you can use a bluetooth headset to chat. In the end this game was an excellent buy and I would reccomend it to people who are mature, and like the mafia type stuff, like me.
What's great about it: excellent graphics, great storyline and online play
What's not so great: after you beat it not much replay value

This game is amazing. From the characters to the view of Liberty city, every details are amazing. I just love the "sand-box" play of GTA. I always fly on a helicopto and just jump off for fun. Really fun. Especially ONLINE!!!

Having played Vice City, San Andreas and all the stories I'm quite familiar with the GTA series. The graphics in 4 are as much of a leap over San Andreas as San Andreas' map size was over Vice City. Headlights actually work, buildings have actual detail to them, cars throw you out of the car if you slam into something to stop, all in all it's a HUGE jump.
The storyline however leaves a little to be desired. One of the nice parts about Vice and Andreas were the little side jobs such as the properties that generated money or gang territories. Here you have friends to keep you busy as a replacement. It's just not the same, not to mention you HAVE to turn on the subtitles to understand anything the rasta guy says, and for that matter, most of what anyone says. The accents are a little too heavy.
The addition of allowing players to "chose their fate" was a great bonus. Granted, it's only on a few jobs, but it does make you think rather than just kill.
Overall the game is great, it takes a while to get use to how they've changed ALL the controls, but once that happens the game is much more enjoyable. You will probably have to restart more than a few missions where you died trying to accelerate and hit the wrong button if you are use to the old GTA's.

Grand Theft Auto IV has to be my favorite game. I got it about 4 months ago and it is still my number 1 game. The story is my favorite part. It is very interesting. The graphics are amazing as well, and adding the vibration from dualshock 3, it makes it feel and look all that realer. The cars are cool as well. New cars from 2009 are on there as well as sports cars and classics. Within the game, you can go on a computer and meet a girlfriend in which you can do numerous activities such as: bowling, drinking, eating, see a play, or go to a strip club (not really for a date); and many other things. The only bad thing about the game is the car veiw angles, but that can be adjusted by using the right analog stick. This game is the best out there! A must buy!
What's great about it: story, graphics, cars, mini games, relationships

I have played every single GTA titles made and, besides the PC top scrollers, this has to be my least favorite. I could play Vice City and San Andreas until my fingers were black and blue, but I didnt feel as strongly about this game.
The fact that our character is Russian is cool and different, but his accent is completely hard to understand as well as most of his family and the jamaicans. Subtitles are A MUST in this game, otherwise you might honestly miss something that you need to do. The map is gynormous which makes for fun driving experience as always. The realism has stepped up a notch as well. Making you choose your path is also a new addition which was kinda cool. Kill or dont kill, now YOU get to decide!
Overall the game was good, nothing too exciting. If you love GTA like I do you have to play it atleast once.
What's great about it: Graphics, Cars, Huge Maps, Fun
What's not so great: Heavy Accents, Storyline kinda sucked, Controls

this is yet another GTA game comparable to past GTA games. the graphics are by far the best of the series and they did take a more realistic approach on driving, shooting than previous games. the game in my opinion was not worth the origional $60 price tag due to lack of diversions out side of the main mission unlike saints row. the game does support trophies which does add some replay value but there seems to be a few things lacking compared to the previous san andreas such as vehicle customization, working out to get bigger and stronger, the need to eat but not over eat. some of the features that made the last game stand out are missing which kind of takes away from the fun of it (working out was not fun, but getting bigger and dual wielding sawed off shot guns and making your car look different were neat aspects) they have dating in the game which is more of a pain than anything, dealing with all the personal relationships in the game to keep everyone happy. i personally found it annoying to have to stop game progress to take everyone out on a "date" so they continue to like you and give you their help/bonuses in the game. all in all they went forward in the series while taking a few steps back, maybe the next GTA game will hit the nail on the head (or score a bullseye for those who play darts in the game). they added dart, pool, and bowling as a diversion, the games are not great but it is something to do outside of the missions and they have trophies associated with them as well. all in all a good game for the $40 right now.
What's great about it: its another GTA game
What's not so great: not enough diversions to keep the gameplay fresh
