Personal photo digital archives

I bought this scanner about a year ago and have used it to digitally archive my brother's photos, slides, and film negatives, and it has performed very well for those. Now I am moving on to my own photos that include 29 years of contract archaeology in the U.S., so it is going to get a really good workout before I'm done. Aside from my time in retirement, this device will save me thousands of dollars in digitizing fees for having this done by any of the services available for such tasks.

I bought this due to its multiple capabilities at a low price point. Satisfied, it will see heavy use with 35mm. Economical vs. Studio printing of '35mm

Great for scanning film negatives!

I bought this as soon as it was restocked last month and I couldn't be happier. Sure the V600 is fancier and maybe looks cooler but this was well worth saving the $100 and not upgrading. Quality is amazing and the auto crop function makes everything soo much easier. Please buy this if scanner if you are scanner shopping.
This is my second Epson free standing scanner. They are affordable, high quality and easy to use.

As the family historian, I am regularly scanning old vital records, slides, photos, and documents. This is a great-all purpose scanner!
I was especially pleased to see our old family slides digitized so I could share them with other family members!

A Really Nice Product

I purchased the V370 Photo Scanner for the primary purpose of transferring a collection of 50+ year old slides to digital media while they were still in good shape. I was a bit skeptical about the units ability to capture the slides with good resolution and ability to deal with faded and color shifted Ektachrome slides. The Kodachrome slides had not aged appreciably. However, the sales person suggested that if I was not satisfied with the performance, I could return it. To make a long story short, it is not going back to the store. The V370 does everything I had needed done and more. The automatic color corrections for the Ektachrome slides, while not perfect, are perfectly acceptable. My only wish is that the cleverly designed slide/film strip adapter would hold more than 4 slides at a time, but I suspect the light source in the lid is the limiting factor. The V370 is well worth the cost and offers substantially more utility than a single purpose slide/film scanner.

Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner

I received this scanner as a gift from my husband. I had mentioned scanning some old photos and putting them on a disk because I have boxes of them. He did some research and found this one. It is so easy to use even I can do it. It does multiple pictures at once and saves them to "my pictures", no new complicated programs to learn. Also, I just had occasion to use the slide attachment in a very sentimental way. Have to say this is one of the best gifts I have ever received even though I didn't know it existed until I got it.

I've had this scanner for 3 years and it's performed beautifully, mostly working with old 35mm slides. However, the last couple batches of images started having streaks in them and getting worse all the time. I combed the troubleshooting pages and went on line looking for help with no results. I uninstalled the unit and started thinking about a new one. Three months later I decided to give it one more try. Reinstalled everything and scanned a couple of slides.. Still streaks. Back to the online help pages. FINALLY I found one little sentence saying to clean the glass table (which I had done 100 times) AND the transparency window unit in the lid. All I had to do was clean that with a damp cloth and EUREKA! no more streaks. That one little sentence at the very bottom of the maintenance page did it and that's the only place I found it mentioned. This needs to be in the Q and A section, but it's not. If you are having the same problem, give it a try.
