Poor design - requires major work to trim up

I spent the afternoon trying to achieve a halfway decent installation with this trim kit. (Ours was the white version.) As provided, there is no way to adjust the relative height of the lower front bracket into which the flange of the faceplate is screwed. The result is that the bottom of the microwave door scrapes the faceplate flange. I had to use a Demel tool to cut slots in the lower bracket so that I slip it under the front edge of the bottom trim piece and create a gap that would allow the door to open and close easily. In hindsight, I wish I has just tried to repair our 17-year old GE Profile microwave/convection oven instead of replacing it. The old unit was clearly better built. Now I am thinking about doing a complete kitchen refurb in the next year or two, and you can bet GE won't be on my list of brands to consider.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
