Roku ... a great value

I just installed Roku and am still learning the in and outs. I am 81 years old, and if I can install it anyone can. The same is not true of Chromecast, which I found difficult to install and no telephone or chat line support.
The different in price in minimal and well worth the lack of hassle.

A Must Have!

When I first got this I was truly impressed with the small size and the lightweight feel to it. Not a cheap feel like some streaming devices give, but a good quality build feel to it. The set-up took me 2-3 minutes and wala, it was done and ready for use. When it first loaded, I was blown away at the amount of channels provided & found the streaming of these channels like Pandora, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu & Amazon Instant Videos to play flawless in every way. I could not live without having one of these in my home now, after using this. These are GREAT for Family Rooms, Guest Bedrooms, Kids Rooms and more. I love that it connects to WIFI in a matter of seconds with no difficulty like some devices d have a problem with. Games....Yes that is right....The games they have on this Roku are not the best quality as you would get on the Xbox 360, but that is because this is not as high tech & this is a plus, because it is more budget friendly. However the games are a blast with friends/family & a few of my favorites are "Wheen Of Fortune, Angry Birds & Jeopardy". The price point will fit anyone's budget & customer support is fantastic. This is a MUST HAVE/BUY for any household.
Pros: High quality picture, Compact, Great value, Video selection, Easy to set up, Reliability, Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi

Everytime I turned to my Smart TV, the ROKU 3 froze up and had to be rebooted. This was everytime I used it. From the Net this is a common problem. It's due to the Wireless in my Sharp 3D TV 70 inch Smart TV competing with the ROKU3. They cannot co-exist. After a week of having to reboot EVERY TIME I wanted to use the ROKU3, I sent it back and got a refund. I have TWO ROKU 2 HD and love them. Until ROKU solves this problem, I'll never own another ROKU 3. ROKU owes me an apology.
Pros: Fast Setup, Loved The Remote Sound, Promised So Much, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Sleek Design
Cons: After 30 Minutes Offline, Freezes Up On My Hdtv, Everytime It Freezes, Roku Has To Reboot, Poor Design, It's Due To The Smart Tv, Wireless Completes, Freezed Up Continually

HDCP ERROR

I own three other Roku devices (2 HD devices and one XS device). I have raved about Roku to family and friends. When the Roku 3 came out I had to have it. I started getting the blue screen after about three weeks. I exchanged it for another Roku 3 and at times there is not sound. I love all of the other Roku devices, but the Roku 3 needs help in the technical area.
Pros: Fast Setup
Cons: Does Not Improve Audio/Video

A great alternative to cable

I like the ability to choose the channels I want to watch, not like cable where the channels are shoved upon you.

I bought this a month ago to stream redbox and amazon on my 'smart tv' which after being 3 years old apparently wasn't that smart. It works great!

The ease of set up was outstanding. Content was good but would like to see more content delivery. The streaming is in its infancy. Would like to see Khan Academy. HBO to Go and a lot of the premium service content needs Comcast to agree. Distributors seem reluctant to let content freely be accessed. Seems to be the Achilles heel for streaming. Its a much better setup than my Smart TV. Improvements could be enhanced if a content package like a Sports package or a premium content package could be accessed. Roku only provides the means of delivery. Net-flicks started out that way now look at them.
