Good Purchase

I reviewed a lot of TV streamers before purchasing the Roku. It seems to work very well. I have used it extensively to watch Netflix and Hulu. The only problem I had was the Internet connection. It worked OK with Netflix, but it was not fast enough to work with Hulu. I resolved to problem by using a wireless bridge and the external network connection.

Amazing Device

I am so happy I bought a Roku, after having 2 apple TVs, the Roku provided the exact same service and more. My favorite feature is the ability to plug earphones into the remote, so i can watch and not disturb those around me at night. I wish there was a setting to make DNS configuration easier as i like to take it while travelling.

Sure the product offering is great and easy to use. But what I really like is the way Roku approaches and talks to me via emails. Especially the recommendations for movies and shows to watch!

The Roku 3 is the easiest to use. It take time for initial set up but after that, it's a breeze. I Have an Apple TV and it doesn't compare. The speed of the Roku is impressive.

Great Product, a few drawbacks

Have owned the roku for a couple of months now. Overall, it is a great product and easy to use, but there are also a few things about it that I have been disappointed with.
Previously, we had been using my Xbox to stream netflix, WatchESPN, hulu etc on the TV and through my surround sound speakers, but since I hadn't played video games in a couple of years it no longer made sense to pay for xbox live to stream these services. I did some research and roku was the perfect fit for us. Tons of apps, great interface, easy to set up and use and HDMI output. We use it all the time now and are even considering canceling our satellite service because of it.
Now, here are the drawbacks:
1) The sound quality is not as good as I would have hoped. For a device with HDMI output you would expect HD quality surround sound(when available), especially someone like me with a nice receiver and surround sound setup. The picture quality has always been excellent, which is why it's strange to me that sometimes the sound quality is just not very good. My issue is that sometimes the audio sounds "garbled" or "static-y" particularly noticeable with "s" sounds. It hasn't been like this all the time and certainly not enough to consider returning the product or looking for other options, but it happens on a regular enough basis to be annoying. Hopefully its something that they can fix in the future
2) The second issue is that the roku box causes "handshake" issues with my A/V receiver. Every 2-3 days, when turning on the roku, we'll get a purple error screen. Audio still comes through, but no video. At the same time our cable box will receive video, but no audio. The only solution is to shut down and unplug everything(receiver, roku and cable box) wait 15-20 seconds for it to reset and then turn everything back on one at a time to re-establish the connection with the receiver. This fix works every time until we get the same error a few days later and have to repeat the process. I'm using the exact same setup and cables that I had previously with my Xbox and we never had these problems, so it is clearly a roku issue.
Like I mentioned above, overall the roku is a great product and we enjoy using it on an almost daily basis. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants all of their streaming apps in one place available on their TV. Its got every app you can imagine and much easier to use than a "smart" TV. Neither of the issues/problems that we have had are deal-breakers, but they are pretty annoying and I hope Roku works to get these issues fixed in the future.

I didn't know much about streaming, I did a little review research and decided on ROKU. I bought the 3 and could not be happier. I later bought a different brand DVD player with streaming for bedroom but I will probably end up with ROKU in there as well because the other brand was slow.

My New Favorite Toy

I love the Roku. I purchased one to use in my home for a new tv and decided I don't even need to hook up my cable to it. I can travel with it. And I liked it so much I purchased a 2nd one for my other home.
