Device is muh faster than previous versions or my TiVo. Occasionally freezes but overall, great device

Alternative to cable

We received this for Christmas. We had cut back to basic cable as the programming choices were repetitive and of low standards. We enjoy the Roku but find the streaming problematic if you have T.W.C. Light Cable. The commercials are an issue . The best use we have found so far is PBS. We have not tried any pay channels as the point in cutting most of our cable was the outrageous cost for LOW rent programming.

The faster processor is worth the money.

This is my second Roku. Everything happens a little faster with the Roku 3. Start up, navigating menus, any time you need the Roku 3 to respond to your remote inputput it happens faster and more smoothly.
I Like the headphone feature. The sound quality is not great but it is good enough.
I'm 66 and my hearing is not as good as it used to be. I wish it were easier to turn close captions on and off.
I have tried Apple TV. I prefer the Roku programming.

Worth the Money

Purchased the Roku 3 a month ago especially for watching Acorn TV. Money well spent. Hook up and set up were a no-brainer, just plugged it in and it worked.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm so happy I bought this. So easy to set up. I really like watching these channels that I can't see on regular cable TV. It was definitely worth the investment.
