Works great!

I purchased this a month ago for our bedroom after purchasing an Apple TV for our family room. Although the Apple TV seems to have some advantages over the Roku 2, the Roku 3 is possibly much better. Unfortunately our bedroom TV is an old Sony tube TV and doesn't have HDMI outputs so we had to go with the Roku 2 which accommodates the RGB inputs and outputs. Still, overall, I would recommend the Roku 2 to anyone who doesn't have a TV with HDMI connections. It works very well and I am thoroughly happy with this product.

Great content, Terrible remote

I hate trying to use the remote to enter passwords. I would love a qwerty keyboard on it and if possible, access to log in to a password manager program to enter a single username and password. My remote stopped working for a short while, and after a reset, I had to re-enter all of my passwords again.

ROKU 3 the Best Streaming-Video Box

After years of paying for Cable Service and not being happy with my providers, COMCAST and Verizon FIOS, I decided to look at other ways to watch TV without being strapped to a Cable Provider, which nickel dimes you for everything. I investigated Amazon Fire, AppleTV, Google Chromecast and several others. I found ROKU enabled me to do more especially with its Private Channels.
The Good/ The Roku 3's excellent interface and speedy processor makes it feel quicker and more responsive than any other streaming box. More than 1,000 channels are supported, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Pandora, MLB.TV, Amazon Cloud Player, Vudu and (finally) Youtube. It also has cross-platform search that scours several major TV and movie services to find content. And Roku's nifty remote has a built-in headphone jack that lets you listen without disturbing others.
The Bad/ The Apple TV still works better within the Apple ecosystem. And the Roku 3 isn't the best option if you're mostly looking to stream your personal digital media collection.
The Bottom Line/ The Roku 3 is the best streaming-video box yet, with tons of content sources, lightning-fast performance, and an innovative remote with built-in headphone jack.
Note: Sports and or Movies, TV Shows - not sure I want to sign-up to a provider on a monthly basis to watch something, which will be shown again in a week or so. With Free IPTV, these platforms will push consumers away from the Cable Providers and Monthly charges. Take Note People.

We bought a second Roku we love it so much! I originally had to convince my family we could live without the old way of doing cable/satellite TV.

Wat to untangle yourself from the cable beast? I did and it was a great decision to purchase the Roku 3. Between Netflix, and Hulu + and the rest of the channels available I can watch anything I am interested in when I want to watch it and my monthly cost is under $20.00! Download the app and you phone or pad becomes a second remote (which is easier to search and type with).

I use my roku more than cable tv. Great features and channels. Now if the bug would get fixed where the base stops responding to remote it would be perfect.

Disney channels don't work

I bought the stick hoping to eliminate my cable. While trying to sign on through my cable company, all the disney channels (xD, junior, and regular disney channel) all say not authorized. Even doing the authorizing over and over. Other channels work perfectly, but with a toddler and 13 year old disney jr and xD are a big deal here. Kinda disappointed!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
