Remote Stops Working Since Last Two Firmware Updat

The Roku box itself is it bad but since the last two firmware updates the remote is been having troubles. At first the remote stopped working and lost pairing. A factory reset was needed to get the pairing screen to reappear but the process would freeze after entering the code on the Roku web site. AFter the last firmware update the remote worked for 10 minutes then suddenly just stopped once again. If it were not for the Roku app on my iPhone 5 I would not be able to use the device.

I'm done with trying every month to bring "TV" costs down only to get hit with a new "charge" or rate hike. Roku gives me everything I need (except Kodi/XBMC) and my family can operate the unit without issue. TV is just media and media is changing.

Purchased the Roku 3 about 6 weeks ago. Very easy to set up including with my Harmony smart remote. I liked the ability to set up HBO Go and Showtime anytime channels. Note: need to reboot your Roku to get Showtime to work. Movie load time very fast.. I previously use an old Samsung BD player to access Netflix.

Many Channels and easy to install and use

The Roku 3 boast for its fast and it is in comparison to other Roku products. I have both the Roku stick and this Roku 3. The picture quality from the Roku 3 is better than the HDMI stick. There is one flaw that the Roku 3 lacks and possibly in conjunction with me Sony TV. If you are using the HDMI output from RoKu 3, and pass that through the TV, you will not get surround sound to your receiver. However, if you pass the HDMI to your receiver, you will get surround sound but a reduction in picture quality due to the receiver interface. I think there should be an optical out and this would perfect the connectivity of this RoKu. Regarding the channels, Roku does carry many channels, however, a lot of the channels are not of interest or they are paying channels. For such, if you add all the channels and pay for them, its probably better and cheaper to subscribe to Direct TV or Cable. However, it is still unique is that it does have some internet channels that are of interest. This device does support Spotify Premium (meaning you have to pay a monthly fee), which is actually good is that it plays 320 Kbs quality music. Another point is that this device will not read your computer files as is. There are apps that you can use, but I did not like adding more programs on my computer. So, it is not that friendly. Rhe RoKu 3 is the best streaming device out there and that I agree. So, I do recommend for that but if you want additional features, you may have to look at something different.

I bought the Roku 3 about a month ago, WIFI connectivity is great, no problems in streaming. The channel store and Private channels offer so much more than Cable. I am saving about $70 every month over Cable.
