Great value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this fridge a month ago and I am extremely pleased. Looks great and has decent storage space in the cooler. The freezer is a little small but does the job. I wish it was another couple of inches taller but the counter depth design is nice. For the price, this is s great buy!

Did not meet expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased a complete suite of Frigidaire appliances as part of a kitchen remodel. I selected the Frigidaire Gallery package based on a good price for the set, features and the smudge-proof finish. The refrigerator is attractive on the outside and I do like the finish very much, but from a functional perspective it is disappointing.
1. The frig is very noisy. It makes a variety of sounds which I understand from the user's manual is to be expected. The manual lists 12 different noises that are made during the normal operation of the frig (clicking, gurgling, hissing, high-pitched hum, dripping, popping, etc. in addition to the typical sound of ice cubes falling into the dispenser and compressor operation.) The clicking noise is particularly irritating when I'm trying to watch TV or have a conversation. If I had known that the frig was going to be this noisy I would not have purchased it.
2. The ice doesn't come out of the ice maker smoothly. Cubes get stuck together and won't fit through the opening so I have to open up the dispenser and take out the cubes by hand. When I do this sometimes there is an avalanche of ice. Other times there is no ice at all in the dispenser to come out. I have to wait until new ice is made.
3. The plastic drawers are very cheaply made. They are too lightweight and they do not glide smoothly on the rails. I had to put some vegetable oil on the tracks to reduce the awful screeching from opening the deli drawer.
I had not purchased new appliances for over 25 years and now realize I was quite naive about the overall quality that can be expected from most of the leading manufacturers, and this is certainly not limited to the Frigidaire brand. Appliances are no longer designed to last 20+ years - planned obsolescence seems to be the strategy pretty much across the board. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
