This is one of the best movies ever made. I definately recommend watching Firefly first then watch Serenity. Both Firefly and Serenity are worth buying.

Great movie to watch over and over again. The extras packed on the disc can almost make another movie by itself.

Serenity is Top-Notch Sci-Fi Fun!

As mentioned in the reviews above, "Serenity" is a film that serves as a cliffhanger-ending to the Cult-Hit TV Series "Firefly". "Firefly" was on the FOX network, hence the cancellation (FOX cancelles everything good they every air, just because the ratings aren't fantastic). FOX aired the episodes out of order (Hmm... I wonder why the ratings were down.) and doomed the phenominal series right out the gate. Regardless, I was a dedicated viewer all through its run. Then FOX released the Series in a DVD boxed set, and BAM! it brought in a lot of revenue. Universal stepped in and treated the fans (and listened to thier pleading) to something spectacular. "Serenity" works just fine as a stand-alone Sci-Fi film. It's got a great Story, wonderful characters, and is full of action. For fans of the show, "Serenity" is something more, an experience. "Serenity" is our last outing with the wonderful crew, and boy does it deliver.
What's great about it: Everything. Great send-off to a wonderful series.
What's not so great: Last outing with the Crew of "Serenity" =[

As any sci-fi fan will tell you, the series Firefly was critically acclaimed but cancelled by the short-sighted execs at Fox. The browncoats (as Firefly fans are known) clamored for a movie to resolve some of the plot threads from the series. This movie captures the spirit of the series with the characters' crisp dialouge and an entertaining plot. Even the non-initiated will enjoy this movie, however one will wonder what might have been if the series had continued.

If you are a fan of the series Firefly, then you have probably already seen and enjoyed this movie. It would probably still be ok for people that haven't seen the series, but I would recommend watching Firefly before Serenity. the action is pretty awesome and it makes you wish that they hadn't cancelled the series after only 14 episodes.
