Exceptional sound / features on budget

Purchased this unit for my bedroom and honestly it is amazing . Excellent sound and features for the money , primarily use the blue tooth for music and watch DVD's both standard and blu-ray and picture and sound blow me away . I really could not be happier with this unit - my kids also are very impressed with sound and picture - thank you Sony !

I really love my 3D Blu-ray Home Theater with Wi-Fi, this system is great multi functional and what I like the most is connecting my iPad and other devices trough Bluetooth.

Does NOT have "Wireless Rear Speakers"

I bought this unit to replace an ageing BDV-E780W that has a remote box that the rear speakers plug into --the base unit communicates wirelessly to the remote so there are no wires going across the floor. When the full specifications for this unit (BDV-E3100) said "wireless rear speakers" I assumed that meant something similar. I was disappointed to find that the rear speakers have to plug into the base unit using wires.
I haven't decided if I'll be returning it yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good sound. Not Updated. Shuts off on DVD

Let's begin with the good.
1. USB connections to watch video/photos on flash (or other connected) drive.
2. Sound quality is pretty good. Except for good High range sound.
3. Lots of settings to fiddle with so it's customizable.
BAD:
1. First and foremost: Once I performed the first firmware update, there is now a constant problem. During DVD (Not Blue Ray. At least not yet) playback, the device completely shuts down and restarts.
--This seems to happen less frequently when I mute the system speakers and only use the TV sound. But this kind of defeats the purpose of the home theater system.
2. This device is not being updated or supported. When I first purchased it, there was one firmware update immediately. But it broke the device. And there have been NO further firmware updates since this messed up one. Things were fine before. But not after.
3. USB can only be formatted as FAT which limits file size to under 4GB. So no high quality movies.
4. There does not seem to be a memory function. So if I shut the device off then turn it on again, I must start the DVD from the beginning. Meaning that I must take 5 minutes to get through all of the non-skiable trailers, warnings, ads, etc. just to get back to the main menu. This is a big problem when you consider "Problem #1" above.
5. It's nearly impossible to sync the audio from the TV and the Theater system together. It's always off just enough to make it extremely uncomfortable to listen to. I have to mute the TV. Which is unfortunate because my TV provides the Treble/speaking voices more accurately than the theater system.
6. There should have been a separate amplifier/Disc player so that the device would not heat up so bad. Which I assume is causing the restart.
7. Included Video Streaming apps are very unusable because they are are SOOOO slow. They are practically useless. Waiting nearly 1 minute for screens to appear. Even longer for a Movie to load. I'll just stick with Apple TV or Amazon Firestick.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
