The subwoofer adds the deeper notes that built-in TV speakers lack. But the soundbar itself is barely better than the speakers built into my TV. (LG 42LK520). I bought this bar because that TV only has optical audio output, so a cheaper analog only bar would not work well. So unfortunately, only content in plain old stereo will play through these speakers, 5.1 audio is ignored by this soundbar.

I just picked up this polk SurroundBar 5000 IHT. I bought this sound bar because of the Bluetooth feature. I like how I can listen to my favorite internet radio stations from across the country thru my smartphone apps to the sound bar by turning on the Bluetooth on my smartphone and sound bar. I also like the heavy bass from the wireless subwoofer which is hidden behind my couch. I enjoy how i can program my cable remote to control the sound bar sound. This sound bar will give you the surround sound from movies, sports, or video games that you would get with a 5 or 7 speaker setup thru a receiver but without all the wires and cables running across the room. I would definitely recommend buying this sound bar for your HDTV to listen to the sound from your game console, Blu-ray/DVD player or cable/satellite box.

I recently purchased the Surround bar 5000 to hook up to my LED TV and DISH Network system. I had and opportunity to compare it to the Bose 1-2-3 System and found it to be much better sound. I was able to hear voices much better and the overall sound quality was much crisper. I am very happy with my new Sound bar and would highly recommend it to others. Oh yes. The price was much less then the Bose System.

This us the first polk product I've been disappointed in. It has a very, very bright sound. It's all treble and bass. No mid range at all. My tv speakers literally sounded better. Keep in mind though I put the sound bar on an old big rear projection tv and those have larger speakers than a flat panel. I can't recommend this product unless it's your only option or you don't miss midrange frequency in your audio.

I'm a big Polk audio fan, but am disapointed in this product. The little remote is a toy, but I didn't really think it would be an issue, as I planned to use my Direct Satelite or Samsung TV remote. The LEARN function on the Surround Bar is useless. We could not get the POLK to learn the Direc tv remote, especially volume.... it could learn up or down but not both. Even the TV remote had to be directly in front of surround bar or it wouldn't work....

This system is very good for it's price.
Blows Boston Boston Acoustics - 6-1/2" Sound bar away. (little bass)
Even the Samsung sound bar looses. (sounded very tinny)

Great sound!! Mounted below my Samsung 46 inch flat screen on the wall, looks pretty good. Only drawback is remote pick up. Worked right of the box with my Samsung remote, needed no programing.
