Light and Fast DSLR

Wonderful product. Light and fast (AF). Size is compact. Touch screen response and menu is very good. STM lens is really quite and very good for video recording. Camera produces sharp images IMO. Autofucus is good and produces crisp images. Lot of options in creative mode and manual settings also. Mono audio recording IMO is the only drawback along with handling of camera with someone having bigger hand. Overall a very satisfied user.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Super-sharp images

Great camera better then you will expect

I have has a Rebel XT, D20 , T3i and now my SL1. I was looking for something small and light when out taking pictures. the SL1 fits that bill, especially when you slap a 40mm Pancake or the 50mm 1.8. Small light tight package that takes excellent images in all lighting.
I use it everyday taking portraits or street photography. Have never had a problem very nice. To put in perspective its basically a T5i in a small package same Digic 5 18.5Megapixel sensor.
I will say the glass makes a huge different in quality. I use my 40mm pancake, 50MM 1.8 and a 23-105 L, I have used a 70-200 L, and a 50mm 1.2 L I have to say the camera looks funny with the huge L glass but the images are spectacular. I have not ever used the kit 18 - 55mm. but spending the money on better glass will make a huge impact on images.

The Go To system

I have an older 1D, a refurbished 5D, a brand new 7D, a Canon 2000, and a couple of others from days gone by. (I go all the way back to the original Rebel, littering my family with older 40's and 50's...) What I pack in my field kit is the SL1... and a SPARE SL1 body.
This camera is quick, it is easy, it does the job. Less frills and bells and whistles than the heavier (much heavier) pro versions, but then I'm not out there to SHOOT something for publication every day, which doesn't mean I don't stumble across something I just have to shoot. When I do -- out comes the SL1....
If I'm not taking a grip, gaffer, lighting truck, and if I'm not calculating depth of field, precision exposures, and precise resolution then I have NO NEED of one of my (HEAVIER!) cameras.
This camera excels in anything you aren't shooting for publication, and CAN be used for publication in a pinch. It's terrific for planning, for testing, for conceptualizing, for storyboarding, for precision angles, for ANYTHING that doesn't require the full field team. It CAN be used to shoot video, it CAN be used for publication. it's 99 percent of the pro systems and if that 1 percent isn't important then it's perfect for everything. Shooting pictures for the college class handouts I do (for photography and video classes)... Check! Shooting conceptualization shots... CHECK! Shooting test shots for lighting angles and intensities... CHECK!
And people it is LIGHT!!!! as in NOT HEAVY. I add it to my L- lenses and it's like looking at a frog that's grabbed a 747 with it's tongue! (I typically set one up with at least one of the L lenses on a tripod -- just in case situation.) It would be ridiculous if it didn't work.
It can pack INSIDE your suitcase. Add this to a Tamron 18-200 mm Di III lens and you have a FULL KIT IN ABOUT THREE POUNDS!
On a professional note it's like carrying a backup revolver in combat. You will never need it until you need it badly and then it's going to do JUST what it's designed to do and it is NOT GOING TO FAIL YOU! Rough, tough, stable, inexpensive, and the batteries last FOR HOURS!!!!

Wonderful Camera

I bought this because I'm new to photography, and I'm glad that I did. This camera is wonderful! The only issue I've had is overexposure, but popping into Program mode and setting the ISO a little lower is usually a quick and easy fix.

I bought this a year ago, and love this camera SO MUCH. It is never slow, always has amazing quality photos, and I love using this with my EFS 18-55mm lens. Super easy to take anywhere, and the touch screen makes it super easy to use.

This product is truly a great piece of technology. I recently purchased this item and it is quite astonishing. The different settings in each mode and the effectiveness of said modes are quite amazing. I would heavily recommend this camera.

Exactly what I was looking for

I recently recieved my Canon Rebel SL1 and I couldn't be happier! I was previously shooting with a Rebel t2i and was looking for a newer one to bring with me to college. I was immediatly drawn to the small size but was warry of the quality that might have been skipped out on as well. When I went to try it out at my local camera shop I was plesently surprised to learn that despite being much smaller, it still feels solid in my hands. I was also thrilled to see that the specs were identical if not better when compared to my t2i.
The other thing I was warry of was the touch screen, I was concerned that I would have to primarily rely on it and that it would be the first thing to break. I have been able to fully opperate the camera without ever using the touch screen, which is good because that's what feels natural to me. The few times I have used it, it has been very responsive and accurate.
The new "creative filters" and picture styles are quite fun to play with. The "food" style is really nice and does make food shots look delicious. The "creative filters" are not exactly my style (a little to instagram-y for me) so I like that 2 files are saved, one with and one without the filter. You can also add these filters after you shoot the photo, as well as add effects like "watercolor" and "art bold". I'm not sure that I'll use these much in the future, but they are fun to play around with, and luckly aren't permanant.
I am extreamly happy with my new little DSLR.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Super-sharp images, feels solid dispite small size, small and lightweight

Love it. Was late in arriving due to frigid blizzard we had.
Comfortable for my little hands. Photo's are great. Will really put it to the test next month when traveling, but it has outperformed my old canon Ti1 by leaps and bounds.
Super sharp. Great images.
Easy to use.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
