the scanner and software works flawlessly in Windows 8.1. I upgraded to Win-10 and have been unable to get the hardware to be recognized by the operating system. The software does not open at all.
I am very disappointed with the instructions on the support page. After following the instructions, I had to back off my upgrade to Win-10.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the scanner. The only problem I have is that I wished it had components to scan other size negative. I have many more negatives for the 110 size cameras and more of those real small which I dont remember what size are they, and others before in the sixties!!
Would you have the forms for those negatives that I can buy???

Excellent scanner

Very pleased with this scanner. Scanned photos and even old 35 mm scanned slides from the 1950's make good enough images to print frame able pictures. Digitizing a photo album from the prints is reasonably quick and convenient. The PDF puts all pages into a fax able single file.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Issues with new O/S

This scanner has given excellent service over many years.
With my (new) Windows 10 O/S, I can no longer run the scanner through Photoshop. Instead, I must run it from the desktop with the scanned pictures going into a folder automatically set up by Windows - workable, but inconvenient. Oddly, the Windows device list calls the V500 a "printer".
It seems some updating/coordination is in order.

We have been using the scanner for more than 8 years. It has operated just like it is supposed to function. Recently we downloaded the drivers for Windows 10 and that too was a good experience. It just keeps on going. It works on all the documents, photos, articles, and whatever we put on the scanner surface. Quality of the scan is excellent. Software that came with scanner works well too curr

I purchased the scanner, primarily , to save colored slides of pictures that I had taken, over 50 years ago, when in the military and when my youngest children were born. the slides printed out into beautiful, clear , first class prints . A far better job then I expected.
I would recommend this to a friend!
