Better than expected

I was prepared for the typical issues old scanners had years back, but this has been incredibly faster than expected and quality is amazing. Have absolutely no issues with it at all. Definate recommended scanner for personal use.

EPSON Perfection V500 Photo

While manipulating the slide/negative holders is difficult, everything else about the EPSON V500 is very intuitive and user-friendly. It allows fastidious manipulation of settings for archival images as well as quick-and-easy settings for less important scans. Scan-quality is excellent! Take time to learn about ICE and how many pixels you REALLY want in a file, as well as what file type to save the scan in. Whether new or experienced, the V500 is a great choice, with its only drawback the cumbersome nature of the slide holders.

I am very very disappointed with this scanner which I am replacing my old 4990 Photo Perfection. I read review that V500 is a newer model of 4990, but it is a lot slower, and the scan quality is not the same as 4990. I can't stand the speed; it is driving me creazy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

this is at least the 4th Epson scanner i have owned and gives by far the worst quality scans. this scanner was purchased to scan old photographs for my customers and i can not use it for that purpose. about the only thing it is good for is a quick document and even there it falls short.
i could not and do not recommend this for any purpose to anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

short and sweet...we have 4 in the film/photo restoration department and we work them like slaves. Never a problem and these babies are real work horses. And the price is right too.

Epson V500 printer

I've used an Epson scanner before, this is my first. Whether I scan documents, photos or negatives, the quality and speed is good. I had the opportunity to build a display for my Uncle, a WWII vet. The family did not want to give up his letters. I scanned them and the result was so close to the actual letters that unless you felt the paper you wouldn't know the difference. It's a joy to have the opportunity to display or handle photos and documents that otherwise may have been stored away for safety.
In the video club, Epson has the best reputation for quality and value. I am amazed to get such a nice product for the price. It makes photo restoration for the home user practical.
I would recommend this scanner to home or professional users. I also do DVD memorials and often have to scan a hundred photos to put together a slide show in a hurry. The Epson performs well, it's easy to operate and I still have money left for the rest of my hobbies.

Epson V500 Photo

I purchased this scanner to convert my extensive library of color slides and film negatives to a digital format. While I have not yet tried scanning negative film, the scanner has performed exceptionally well with my color slides. Even faded and scratched slides were brought back to life. Slides that had poor exposures did not scan well or woudn't scan at all, but this had nothing to do with the scanner. This is an excellent unit and I am very pleased.

V500 is Great

I needed to scan some 2000 slide, film strip and print images, this is the tool to get it done.
Simple to set up, to use and the results are great.
The scan is a little slow when you use the ICE function, so make sure your images are clean from dust before you start.
