Impossible to figure out

I gave it a shot for about 3 hours trying to figure out how to make this scanner work. There are no step by step directions. Finally gave up and waited until my tech savvy daughter came to visit. She figured it out so I am good to do simple scans as long as I don't deviate from her directions. I have no idea how to incorporate photoshop to edit or organize photos. I only have about 3000 that need to be scanned. Directions would have been nice.
I was VERY happy with my first V500, had it numerous years, so when it decided to take a permanent vacaction, I replaced it with another one. I've done old 35 mm film, color slides and old photos. Very happy and impressed with the scanning results and a whole lot less expensive then send that old stuff off to be done by a lab.
I tried a competitor's less expensive model and was very disappointed in the results of scanning slides. I returned the product and purchased the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner. I've scanned approximately 60 slides with excellent results. Scanning slides takes time, but the results make it worthwhile.
Scans well, easy to use but none of the Optional Software would run on any recent Mac OS and it is a pain to hunt down from other vendors software that is advertized as being bundled.
Instructions are Not Clear and Percise. Need More Step by Step info as for "VISTA" USERS. I could Not find the set-up & Run for the Set Up CD. I had to go into The Computer to Find DVD drive first. Instructions do not tell us this.
We Need This Easier for Folks like me that Have Issues understanding, or are Computer Illerate, in some Fields. I can do My Books and that's it. Nothing Like this.
I feel these instructions are Wrote for Folks that have a lot of Computer Experience, Not the NOVICE, in computers. Like some of Us Seniors.
Make things Simple. We all LIKE SIMPLE NOT COMPLEX. I am ready to take it Back already. Still might. Thank You.
the machine itself is simple to use. the price was right. quality seems adequate. its not as fast as they claim it to be. what really slows the process down is the use of the software. instead of just one inclusive interface application with top menu toolbar choices, you have to chew your way thru multiple application and windows to setup a scan for doc type, parameters, process, etc. its ridiculous. if you need to append pdf docs, its another long drawn out process. it seems your better off directly using the adobe app to do so. then theres the help app. its in html format. again a cumbersome ancient format. which isnt printable unless you want to open every single link and print it. all other info is in pdf format. why couldnt the most important info be in pdf format? why should the customer have to do it? theres a lack of choices and preferences as to the use of the apps themselves. e.g. -- epson scan app.--scan a doc and it closes. i should have a choice as to whether it stays open or closes, no matter what mode is chosen.....auto..office...etc.
I just received the scanner and feeder. I installed it but can't get it to work. There are no instructions as how to put the sheet feeder on it. I did what seemed to be right. I will have to seek experienced computer people to help me. I am disappointed.
