A Great Scanner for Artists
on August 14, 2012

This is a great scanner. I use it primarily for artwork but it will scan anything (including 3D objects up to several inches thick) I use a cloth behind these and leave the scanner cover open.
It has too many features to list. It scans photos, slides and other transparencies, thick books, etc. Saves in BMP, JPG, PDF, multiple page PDF, and others.
Also, the bed is longer than the ones you find on the typical all-in-one.
One bit of advice from my sad experience - be very careful with the glass. It scratches extremely easily. If you do scan 3D objects, use a sheet of clear plastic to protect the glass.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Since the day I wore the head out on my RX 500 I have looked for a replacement. At last I have found it. It took an Artisan 1430 and Epson Perfection V500 Office to do it better. I expect more than most, and now I get it. I have 500 sheets of photo paper a day to prove it. When friends ask how I do it. I never tell them. I show them.

I Love it, but just short of perfect!

Instead of scanning pic's with my all-in-1 printer-copier-scanner I wanted something:
A. More Portable.
B. Capable of scanning negatives, slides & pics.
C. With high resolution, quality scans 2 view pics on an HDTV from an SD or USB device.
With 1,000's of family photos, negatives & slides degrading & in need of scanning I didn't want 2 sacrifice any of these features!
I found that this product has all of these features & is very user friendly.
While the versatility & quality of this product is def worth the purchase, I don't understand why EPSON didn't either:
A. Make the device capable of downloading files wirelessly.
B. Have Internal memory.
C. With SD & USB ports 2 scan directly 2 the scanner without a PC.
Many of the cheaper, less versatile devices have these features. While this device met & exceeded my expectations for the price this product should have 1 or more of these features 2!

We have just started digitizing old photos, slides and negatives but so far the quality and ease of operation have been excellent. The included editing software has been very effective in removing artifacts and renewing color and other variables. I hope I am as pleased in a few months as I am now.

Pretty good scanner, terrible setup & installation

The scanner seems to be working pretty well and I'm satisfied with that, but the setup and installation process was ridiculously archaic. It felt like they hired an engineer from 1992 to build it out.

Super scanner

Arrived yesterday so I haven't used it for very long but the use I have gotten from this scanner has been great. Very clear, crisp images and super easy to use. I have a Mac and if you follow the instructions regarding set-up you should have no problem. It does take a little time to set up but well worth the effort.
