Using the V500 on Apple LION

The V5000 seems to not be up to speed when it comes to using it with Lion OS. Lion is causing me problems, and the V500 software may be only collateral damage. But it is certainly limiting my scanning capabilities. Maybe I just need to explore features more.
I taught I was getting a printer that would help me restore old photos. The digital ice only works with film and slides. This is a big disappointment for me. I need to fix some scratch marks and cracks on some old images.
Purchased brand new a couple of weeks ago to replace an Epson scanner I had for years. Chose this model based on reviews from PC magazine. Big mistake. It is slow and noisy. I have had to reload the included software twice already to get scanner to work. Still can not get the EPSON scan software to work. Says it can not find the scanner? The interface with my old scanner was far superior. VERY disappointed.
Wow, the price is unbelievable for something that scans slides so well. Can only do 4 at a time but that's ok. I have the best luck scanning at 1200 dpi. Anything less and the results are pixel-y
The Epson V500 is a very nice scanner. It is fast and uses resolutions fitting of a slide scanner (in fact much better than my last slide scanner).
It's shortcoming is that it coes with a "less than ideal" slide holding jig that only holds 4 slides and/or 2 strips of film.
The last scanner I used was an Epson Expression 1680 and it would hold many more of each, in that it has separate Slide and Film Trays. Also multiple trays seemed easily available for the 1680.
The limitation seems to be the "light back" of the V500. Probably taken care of in the V700 or V750 but for a higher price.
I was informed before purchase by retailer that this perfection V500 scanner was compatible with MACS. I have lion and the software does NOT recognize LION 10:7 There is NO HELP on any of EPSon sites. Can anyone assist??? thanks
The V500 is a wonderful scanner for the home user & small business professional alike. The software affords the pro color correction & more before scanning on the order of PhotoShop's ACR, preserving as much color information as possible before scanning. The negative/positive film scanning also works very well with great color with little effort. I only wish the scan area was larger so 3x4 negs could be scanned with one scan. I have & will continue to recommend this scanner to many people.
So far, so good. A decent little all-purpose scanner. The actual unit has the right stuff, so my only complaint is the support material. The assembly-setup instructions were tiny, miserable little graphics. The webpage link also had a rinky-dink quality to it. Only experience with setting up more than a few scanners in my time allowed me to proceed with confidence.
I also find the control panel interface to be very "20th century". The scanner I just replaced was 12 years old and its graphic interface was much slicker and intuitive and "friendly".
