The Perfection V500 has been "perfect" for us.

We bought the V500 in January of 2012. We have used almost all of the features touted by Epson regarding this machine and all work as advertised.
We have no complaints. We have been very pleased with the V500.

Works good!

Wanted a "pro" scanner - couldn't afford one. The V500 is a nice scanner, at a fair price. Good for scans of all types. Handy for making copies. Plenty of options for "manual" operation, though the "auto" function is often "fine".
Front panel buttons stopped working at some point(?), I can only assume because I turned-off some of the "auto" functions(I do NOT like "auto-update/auto-run/auto-monitor" functions.), so, eventually, I'll probably un-install/re-install the entire software package, then closely monitor when the buttons quit, as I again, turn-off functions one-by-one. The buttons are not nearly as important to me as having NO "auto/always running" stuff...

Excellent scanner for slides; fast, good color correction.
One recommendation, put tabs under the edge of the slide holder so that the slides are picked up when the holder is picked up

The scanner does a great job with my black and white/color negatives and slides. Only wish is that it could scan 4x5" negatives.

Slide Reproduction

I found the slide and picture reproduction very easy to use. The only down on this was moving the black papers back and forth. Only a few slides at a time. The photo reproduction was very good.

This scanner is easy to use and does an excellent job if you learn to use all the features. It took me a while to learn but with a little effort on my part I have learned to use a lot of the features and its made my job a lot easier to maintain my Photos. Not to mention any and all the documents I keep on my computer for ease of reference.

Easy to use and works!

I bought the V500 to scan old photos and slides so I can more easily share with family. Worked great out of the box especially for scanning photos. Once I figured out that I had the slide template upside down, scanning 50 year old slides was easy and emotionally stimulating.
Thank you Epson!

Epson V500 Photo scanner

I bought this scanner to transfer all of our family pictures going back generations into digital files. This scanner has not disappointed me at all. It has performed without incident and the ICE features make restoring color to old faded pictures a snap. I would recommend this to anyone who has 35mm slides and photo prints that they would like to place in digital files for generations to come. You do not have to scan each picture individually, you can place as many as you can fit on the flat bed with minimal spacing and it will recognize each individual print as a separate photo. I have scanned over 3000 pictures and 35mm slides without a single problem. I still have over 2000 to go and although time consuming, it is a great way to archive all your pictures and then pass on to family for safe keeping for even more generations to come.
