Disapointment

I am sorry that my scanner does not work from MS Word. I have to open another program and save the scanned item before I can import it into my word document or into my e-mail.

It has been great to use this photo scanner for both pictures and slides. I also used it for scanning in DVD inserts. Yes I like it.

Old Negatives No Problem
on April 23, 2012

I purchased this Epson V500 scanner today because my mother recently passed away and I found old Kodak Verichrome Film negatives. The film negatives are large and researching the cost to have someone process them is about 7-7.50 each negative.
Believe it or not, this scanner (Epson V500) is actually scanning the larger negatives in (Home Mode), it's capturing the entire negative and I am extremely happy! The photo's are beautiful and never before seen by my siblings.
Next I'm going to see if I can get the V500 to scan some old Kodak Disc Packs, wish me luck!
Thank you Epson!

great quality but software issues

this scanner has lots of flexibility and great resolution. i am using it mainly to scan old slides and it does very well. you can do 4 in a batch. nit pick is that the slide holders make it very hard to pick the slides back out of them, it's a pain. but, the auto correction features work very well and go a long way toward invigorating old slides.
the only real negative comment is that it hangs up during the file save process. sometimes it will go quite a few slides with no problem and then it will fail and needs to be rebooted. it has some relation to how many files have already been stored in the directory you're using but that is not the whole answer because sometimes it does it when you're on an essentially empty folder. they need to clean this up because it is frustrating.
overall, though, great scanner.

The Epson Perfection V500 is my third or fourth scanner over a number of years. It is an excellent value for the money I paid. The scanning software has many great features I make use of every time I scan, and it provides lots of versatility. I recommend this scanner highly.
