I was looking for a scanner with the idea of digitizing the many photo albums that I have as another option to manage and enjoy them. I decided on the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner which I have had for approximately one week. I scoured the reviews and decided on the V500, advertised for the novice, having high marks for photo copy quality and having the software that will improve the quality of old photos. I was very impressed how it was basically plug and play, I was scanning in minutes. I am also enjoying the ability to fit and scan anywhere between 5-6 photos at a time...dependent upon size. I have only had the scanner for about a week but am so far totally satisfied with it and would recommend.
Initially had a problem installing......Norton anti-virus reported a "suspicious cloud 5" and would not fully load. Went to Control Panel and removed the program, rebooted and it loaded okay. Have not used it yet.
A great product, easy to use and comes with everything you need including usb wire. It separates multiple pictures on the scanner into 1 each making them easy to save. The quality is adjustable and easy to make high for digital photo books which require high res images. My only complaint is that it sometimes flips the images the way it wants no matter where you position it. It is also little slow but I imagine that is why the images are high quality. Great product and reasonably priced.
I only recently (yesterday) received my scanner. Set-up was very easy. The first 35mm slides I copied were pretty old and not in the greatest condition. The copies were clearer, better color, and much less scratched.
I am replacing my old Epson with the V500 scanner and so far I like it very much. I have had it for less than a week but so far I have restored the color to many old yellowed Polaroid photographs. I have not used many of the features this V500 has to offer and eventually, I will. I have used the options of sending photos directly to e-mail and PSE.
I bought this to work aside my Epson 1260 Perfection Flat bed scannner. I am planning to convert all my 35mm and slides to Digital. I am impressed with this scanner completely. It is much faster than the 1260 even at the same dpi setting. Worth every dollar you pay for this level of scanner. Very impressed with it indeed.
I have only had this a few days and have found it to be easy to use. My main purpose in purchasing this is to convert my MANY negs to digital. The installation & set up was easy to follow even though I prefer printed to pictures & once I figured out that I needed to remove the mat inside the scanner lid to scan negs, it worked as promised. This was recommended by a professional photographer. And I really liked the cost.
