flimsy 35mm film strip holder

I have had my V500 Photo scanner for just over two years. It has been fine except for one thing, the flimsy 35mm film strip holder. After the first half-dozen or so times of closing the retainer portion of the film strip holder, the weak plastic film edge strips stopped latching firmly into place. This prevents older curled film from being held flat. There ought to be a sturdier film strip retainer available for replacing the weak one that came standard with my scanner. The 120 film holder is fine, and documents also scan well.

Amazing scanner for scanning old family photographs, negatives and 35mm slides. Love using it. Easy to use and setup. Works great on a Mac platform.

I have about 1000 slides that are 1/2 frame that I took on a trip to Europe back in the 70's. My main objective is to preserve them and create a slide show without getting out the old Kodak Carousel and screen. This little scanner is doing a GREAT job scanning them onto my Mac with a user friendly program and great enhancement tools with the digital ICE. The only complaint is that it takes about 12 minutes for 4 slides at 3200 dpi from preview to cropping, adjusting and saving. BUT, the end result is lookin GOOD!!! Well worth the time and a great little scanner for it's price!

Scannin 120 Film

I bought this V500 for scanning 120 film. It also does 35mm but I use another scanner for 35mm.
120 scans at 1200 dpi work great with this machine. Newtons Rings are prevented by the film carrier which holds the film off the surface of the glass, an expected problem with some other flatbeds. Dynamic Range of the V500 is less than a professional scanner, but good enough for most work, and certainly great for the price. The odd dark transparency may need a professional scanner, but I'm happy with most of my results.

This scanner is great for scanning photos. Easy to set up and operate. The only con so far is it does no scan up to the edge of the glass bed, loose about 1/16 " from the photo.

I am very happy with this purchase. I am an experimental photographer and use several differnent forms of film. This scanner has performed outstanding with all formats! Even when scanning the sprocket holes on 35mm the images are stunning!

Great Product

I bought this to digitalize my father's slide collection. So far the slides look great. The initial set-up directions could have had a little more detail about how to use the "extra" slide and negative holders correctly. Seems like it was meant to be used internationally -- all pictures and no words. A few words would have helped.
