I purchased the V500 to scan and archive a century's worth of family photographs. I was pleased to find out that this machine does a very good job scanning photographs in a simple, automatic mode, but also offers a manual commands that can rescue and improve photos and documents that are worn, damaged, or otherwise suffering the effects of aging.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Incredible System, Five Stars *****! Worked right out of the box, Software loaded with no issues (Windows 7, 64 Bit) and 35 mm Film scanned as promised. I reviewed many Scanners and choose this one based on what I researched. Definitley buy this scanner!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Missing cover and software problems

When I opened the box i had the inside mat missing that you have to have to scan reflective documents. Ice does not work on photographys. Will not do 220 film or 4X5 film. After a few days the scanner stopped working due to and error message. now I have to throw it in the trash.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed

I just purchased this scanner earlier today. I followed all the instruction to a "T".
Scanner makes a grinding noise and does not scan. I'm taking it back to the store where I purchased it. Hopefully it can be replaced.
Please understand that I have been dealing with computers and associate equipment for a number of years, so I am no novice when it comes to computer related problems.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have nothing to say but WOW!!!!...I've owned other scanner brands but this Epson V500 is the best one yet!. Quality, simply perfection.

I am very happy with this product as I was looking for a product that would convert negatives which were quite old to a photograph that I could save on a disc. I like the fact that this product is so much easier to use than the other OVT scanner I had previously used. I am now able to complete my projects without getting frustrated. I already had a all in one scanner, printer from Epson which I have used for years. Due to the fact I had already had good results with that product decided to go with this V500 scanner to enhance what I already had & it is a wonderful product. Still have not used it to its full capacity but so far I highly recommend this product for anyone regardless of computer knowledge.

Works great for a novice like me

I did some research on digitizing slides and film negatives then I researched the equipment I needed to purchase. I had read some pretty good reviews on the V500 and I had a chance to get a brand new one for what I considered a good price. I still have a lot to learn (and I am still doing my research) on how to get the best from this scanner but it has done very well and I am very pleased with the Digital ICE technology that is contained in the scanner. I highly recommend this to other people who are ready to "get their feet wet" in the area of digitizing their film negatives and slides.
