This is my third dedicated scanner and it is easily the best I've ever owned. Although I've read some concerns about speed, it is pretty peppy on my system. The colors and depth of detail in the photos I've scanned have been surprisingly true. It was a very easy setup as I did NOT have another scanner with TWAIN drivers installed on this system. I do have to say that I got this scanner mostly to scan old slides I have. But after my tests with photos, I'm still scanning photos and haven't yet made it to the slides. All in all a great scanner for the price. I'm really glad I saw it on sale this week and jumped at the chance to buy it! It is easy to customize and the dust-removing feature has worked perfectly.
This is a scanner dedicated for office, but can, also, do photo work. It can scan one by one, or, you can exchange the included extra flatbed for scanning in great volume. The quality is extraordinary pixels excellent , and you can regulate it. It can scan to pdf , or to jpg, or other formats. As, is a scanner dedicated, it has a very much longer life than the brief usable life of the disposable scanners used in the all-in-ones. The quality is very much higher than the all-in-ones. Also, it has star energy saving electric power. This is exactly the scanner for a small, or, medium size , or even great size, office. As all scanners it is better than when not in use, cover it against dust particles in your office. Also, EPSON has more spare parts for reparations than other companies whose hardware is completely DISPOSABLE
So far, working great. Have used the color restoration with very good results. Have only scanned photos so far. It was easy to install and use. Well worth the money.
First off all the unit was recommended by a Photo Tech who deals in forensics. What I was looking for a multi- faceted unit. This one that could scan photos (mine go back to 1930s, slides the 1940s and 50s) plus the same negatives etc. With it I can take images of a low res contact sheet photos and come off with a pretty good image to print on my 1400. The settings allow me hi-res right down the low res scan of documents
I just received it today. It was easy to install and works both with my Windows XP computer and my Windows 7 64 bit computer. The only problem with installation was that I had to change the UBS port that connected with the scanner from a HUB connector to a port on my computer. Luckily I had a port left. The Tech Support person was great in trouble shooting everything and solving the problem. The images look good and print clearly.
