All I wanted to do was scan and email some papers.Absolutely does not work. The 'help' has been no help. I have spent more than two hours with no result, very maddening. I can usually stumble through software installation by carefully following the instructions. It really seems a betrayal when the instructions do not work.
This photo scanner was easing to install and is exceptionally easy to use! It's fun, I can scan an entire page of photos and crop each one saving lots of time and energy.
I bought the V500 hoping it would do more than just 35mm slides/film and was pleasantly surprised. I had a large number of slides that pre-dated the 35mm format and a large number of black and white negatives that varied in size. The scanner did a superb job in scanning all of them. Some of the old slides were suffering from specks on them and inaccurate colors and turning on the Digital ICE option and the Color Restoration option cleaned them up beautifully. The ICE option does add to the scan time but I found it well worth the wait. I also found it much easier to use then my previous scanner and the price was great to top it off.
I have scanned a couple of thousand negatives in the few months since I purchased my Epson V500. For 35 mm negatives it has been an excellent scanner. But I have a lot of 120 &126 size films and I have not found a way to scan them. Why can't Epson make adopters for various film sizes?
I've used lots of different scanners, but never had one that would do slides. I spent a bunch of money have my mothers slides scanned once, and was very unhappy with the results. I finally got my own for my extensive slide collection, and after my 1st 100 scans, have to say I am delighted with the Epson V500. East to install, easy to use (like anything, practice and experimentation help), but I'm really excited, and look forward to using it for printed photos and business documents as well.
