I have used this scanner for a number of years and it has made thousands of scans flawlessly. The software is remarkably useful and stable.

Download Issues

I started downloading the setup disc and followed the directions carefully. When the download was complete I was on the home page. Later when I opened the scanner program I was on the scan page and unable to access any other page. After running throught the troubleshooting I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it but that didn't help. Each file had the exact same content. I'm not a novice when it comes to computers but I gave up. I took it to a computer specialist and was sugested I buy new scanner. I will and it will most likely not be an Epson. Very disapointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just received the scanner and feeder. I installed it but can't get it to work. There are no instructions as how to put the sheet feeder on it. I did what seemed to be right. I will have to seek experienced computer people to help me. I am disappointed.

software woes

What I have learned so far of the machine--it works great.
My problem is with the software: I have a new large capacity laptop with Window 7 and I could not get any of the 3 downloads except "scan". Consumer assit. was less than useless. I need a download manual on all aspects of of the V500 Photo.

I think I may get kicked off Facebook because I am posting so many pictures I scanned. The pictures are absolutely beautiful and just the right size. That machine is so very smart. I couldn't be happier.

long lasting service

As a now retired photographer and present photo hobbyist, I have been ever so pleased with the lasting quality of this Epson V500.
Purchased back in November of 2008, this scanner has been used constantly to copy my photos and special projects. Never has it's service been less than satisfying my demands. I have reported this to many people and they have been using Epson products with equal satisfaction.

Impossible to figure out

I gave it a shot for about 3 hours trying to figure out how to make this scanner work. There are no step by step directions. Finally gave up and waited until my tech savvy daughter came to visit. She figured it out so I am good to do simple scans as long as I don't deviate from her directions.
I have no idea how to incorporate photoshop to edit or organize photos. I only have about 3000 that need to be scanned. Directions would have been nice.

Will not install

I have spent the last 5 hrs. trying to install this scanner on a Windows XP Sustem. It still will not run, I quit.
