Epson V500 Photo Scanner

This is a total piece of junk!! The directions are impossible to follow. It does NOT scan in slides. It just takes a picture of the slide et al with the border and everything and does 4 at a time. If you breath even gently, the slides are not aligned and cannot be cropped out and the light is not sufficient to reproduce the slide. They are all dark and lose clarity when I try to use Photoshop to lighten them. The description did NOT say one had to be a Photoshop guru to be able to even do the most minimal processing and it takes hours to do just a couple of slides given that it is necessary to do so much work to get even one slide into an actual picture. I want my full refund back!!

Great Scanner for Price

We have had our scanner less than a week but we really like how it operates. I purchased it to scan B&W Negatives and it works beautifuly scanning them.
It is easy to operate and works quite efficiently. Great scanner for the price!

the scanner and software works flawlessly in Windows 8.1. I upgraded to Win-10 and have been unable to get the hardware to be recognized by the operating system. The software does not open at all.
I am very disappointed with the instructions on the support page. After following the instructions, I had to back off my upgrade to Win-10.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Connectivity Problem

Had to return to dealer. Computer could not find scanner. Error messages said USB cable not connected. Loaded the program four times. Same results, then gave up.

Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner

My Father was in the Air Force and took 35 MM slides of England, Scotland , and Bermuda in the early 1950's. I want to pass these slides on to my younger brother, but want to make a copy of them for myself first. Also, the slides are beginning to deteriorate and scanning them into CD's seems like the thing to do. The V500 was relatively easy to set up for 35 MM slide scanning, and the software to restore (even improve upon the original) color and contrast is easy to use and effective. I am very happy with this device so far. It has encouraged me to learn how to use other software to create slideshows with narration and background music.
I would recommend this to a friend!
