Excellent Flatbed Scanner

I had to purchase a new flatbed scanner to replace my old Microtek flatbed scanner that would not work with Windows 7 on my new computer, and did not provide any new drivers for the new OS.
With my new Epson scanner, I was finally able to scan my several hundred 35mm slides that I've had for over 30 years. It scans 4 slides at a time in a short few minutes. I was amazed at the quality that it put out. Scanned documents and photos come out excellent.

First Impression

After installing and a half day of use I am quite pleased - particularly as there were no incompatibility issues etc.
One complaint:
Unlike 2 other scanners I have used, the finger detent on the lid/cover of the V500 is 'sloped', quite small, and slippery. This is probably sufficient for people with tiny, sticky, fingers but for us 'normal' guys it poses some problems: in a few hours, the cover has 'dropped' a few times when opening/closing. I hope the glass lense is strong.
Regardless, I don't like electronics that 'crash' so I added a 'gripper' to avoid this problem.

Ice is Perfect in the V500 Scanner

This is a great product. The smart scan technology removes the need to crop most things that you scan since the scanner determines the dimensions of the scanned item. The scanner has worked good for regular paper forms as well as photos. I have not tried negatives or slides, but with the good results obtained doing the other items, I expect the scanner would give good results for those items as well. A great scanner! Thanks!

I have had a lot of scanners over the years, and have never had a great experience with any of them until now. I will try to explain to you how great this scanner has been.
It is fast, quiet, great resolution, does slides and film and regular photos. I scanned a lot of photos today that we from a box I found in my Mom's house. I love the fact that I can layout a bunch of individual pictures on the bed and it will scan the individually in one pass. Time saver plus!
It was recommended by the staff at Henry's and it certainly has lived up to its reviews by them.

Great Scanner

Purchased for iMac use. Took two runs at installing the software (not unusual as it took three for my other scanner). Once I learned the software, it's a marked improvement over the old one. Am upset that PhotoShop Elements 9 does not have "TWAIN" as previous issues, but this only means have to import into PS from file created to accept scans. But that is not Epson's fault. Sleek modern look to scanner on my desk. The only reason for four stars is software. Would still purchase this knowing above.

Excellent Quality & Superb Performance: A Delight

I began working on Mainframes and later PCs. Love gadgets. My previous Scanner died abut 6 nonths ago and I ordered The Epson Perfection V500 mostly due to the price. I have been TRULY and totally delighted with everything about this scanner. I love that it easily produces graphc files or multi page Adobe PDF files just as easily. Some of the other reviews I've read must have been written by newbies; folks with no experience who barely know how to turn on their computers. This is the BEST hardware item that I have ever purchased. You can take that to the bank!
