Still great after 2 years

I have had this scanner 2 years, run it with Windows 7, and have never had a problem or even a glitch. Scans are easy, sophisticated adjustments (e.g., brightness, contrast, color, descreening) are easy, and the scan quality is excellent. This is my 3rd Epson flatbed scanner and I have never had a problem with any of them.
My only complaint - which may be of ALL better-quality scanners, I don't know - is that I can't figure out how to disable the software that automatically sizes your image. Sometimes it's great to have and saves a lot of time, but once in a while I want to scan something in what I guess is an unusual way - e.g., leave a margin around the image so that it's utterly clear to anyone who sees it that I scanned the ENTIRE image - and with the scanner's "intelligent" software that's hard to do.
Other than that I am utterly satisfied with this scanner.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson V500 Office Scanner

Scanner document feeder does not work out of the box. Paper catches on edge of white plastic base of feeder to misffed and crumble original each and every time. Will be calling customer support to send replacement sheet feeder.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's worth every penny

This photo scans the photo fast and the photo comes out better than the Original! The restore photo settings are super! Thanks for a Great Scanner

This is undoubtedly the best, most versatile scanner I have owned (I've had several). It's ease of use is straight forward. I highly recommend Epson's line of scanners.

Great scanner for the money!

After 7 years I replaced my old Epson scanner 2450 with the V500 model. I had upgraded my PC to Windows 7 64 bit recently and I required a compatable scanner for this operating enviroment.
I am delighted with the V500. Its quick, quiet and requires no warm up time.

Epson Perfection V500

Have had the scanner for two weeks, usage limited to scanning slides. Being able to scan four slides at a time is a big advantage. I'm very satisfied with the speed of the machine and with the quality of the slide scans. Set up is easy. Auto mode produces very good scans. I have, however, had a number of software crashes (Mac 10.6.8), after which the scanner will not immediately restart.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't work well with Lion

I bought a new MacBook Pro and was looking for a new scanner to work on all of the old family photos. The V500 was recommended by a number of people so I bought it. Because I'm running Lion, I can't run the install program. I keep getting "You can't open the application FineReader because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I was able, after trial and error and with no help from the Epson website, to get all of it loaded but the Abbyy FineReader. Abbyy won't help because I purchased it through Epson and though I sent my request to Epson yesterday, I haven't heard boo from them. While what I can scan has been of high quality, I have, overall, been very disappointed. I would have trouble recommending this to a friend with a new Mac.
