Dog Slow Scanner

i bought this thing after using a couple of all-in-one scanners for years. I thought I would get a higher end model than the AIO scanner because the reviews said this was a fast scanner. It takes forEVER to preview & also to scan. I'm not happy with it at all. Come on, write a Lion driver for this thing so it runs like a LION, not the turtle it is. To scan an 8X10 in B&W photo (thousands of grays) @ 1200 dpi took 4 minutes!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall, a good scanner

The scanner quality is good, and it doesn't take a long time to scan the image.
However, I don't know if this is just my scanner, but the scanned image is rotated without me doing anything.
The black color goes well with the sleek design, and it's very easy to use.
Overall, I think it is a pretty good scanner and would most likely recommend it to a friend.

What I expected

I did check beforehand the results of this scanner (just search v500 on flickr to see that people did with the product) so I knew what to expect in quality. The possibility of scanning 35mm and 120 is a plus. Scanning of format like 24x24 on 72x24 on 35mm film is awesome. Perfect for the lomography freaks who like to experiment with film.
I really recommend it

We've been using this printer to convert our old slides, Photos, and many of our special documents. This scanner has turned out to be a great choice for converting just about everything.

I bought this scanner to make usable a lot of old film that I recently revisited. I had an older Epson scanner but it is not compatible with Vista. Anyway, my first time out I made a few mistakes but itn't that what life is all about? I'm very pleased with the results and options available especially the tone correction for black and white

I have been using this scanner for more than two years. I scan mostly film, both 35mm and 120 formats. I am a professional fine art photographer, so you will understand that I am very fussy when it comes to quality! This scanner is one of the biggest bargains I have ever had the pleasure of owning! It makes terrific 6400 dpi scans when used properly and I can make great 20x30 inch prints (or larger) from those scans. With 35mm film, the film grain can be bit of a problem at times, but that is not a fault of the scanner. With 120 film I can easly make 20x40 fine art prints, or larger. Isumise that the people having problems scanning film either have a defective unit, or are not doing it properly.

V500 scanner

Have had the scanner for a few months, using it regularly for scanning and copying. Functionality is great with ability to save to different otions including PDF, as well as to customize the resolution. No real working problems. It could be improved by having the ability to resize the working screens for both scanning and copying. I have a large desktop and the images are about 1/4 the size at best. Was also surprised to learn that the software did not already support Windows 7,(64) when I recently got a new pc. The download of new software/drivers however went fine.

I think that you need to make the cord to the computer longer. I don't have many options where the scanner can go!
